davorin
Guys, you shuold connect your hard disk to ICH8R southbrigde controller. (these ports are black). And in bios put IDE mode, not AHCI, and all that will be fine... 1. The P5W DH has ICH7 and not ICH8 2. When only using the back SATA connector and IDE mode I only get: "o IDE Master H.D.D Detected!" Can people be more specific as there isn't just only one BIOS windows for the settings (o; cheers davorin
davorin
Okay...can boot now into SATA drive after fixing MBR with fdisk inside installer DVD terminal application... But reboots continiously with the 10.4.8 JaS reseed DVD with the mifki kernel... Which kernel are others using for P5W DH? cheers davorin
Renard45
For me the 8.4.1 kernel!
davorin
So...all is working now except this bloody HDAudio (o; Get audio only when I set in BIOS to AC97...but either full volume or off (o; And all this guides here didn't help that much yet for the onboard ALC882M codec... Can't be true I have to get a copy of Windows just to find out vendor/device ID of the controller/codec chips...Knoppix Linux "lspci -v" doesn't tell that much besides "81d8" as device ID. There must be some people here running HDAudio out on a P5W DH Deluxe board (o; cheers davorin
