Got OSX to install once, cant ever get it to pass logo again...-v shot inside! Please Help

Hey guys

I installed El Capitan just fine on my X99 build, however I made an error messing with the SMBIOS info and was forced to format my hard drive and re install. I am using clover and the latest capitan app store download to attempt booting

Issue is, I cant get the installer to run anymore no matter what i do, flags, versions of capitan, ive tried it all!

Its really got me lost as it worked fine and now just wont load past the white bar at the apple logo.

If anyone can help me here that would be amazing, I literally cant get the installer up to sort anything out / install the OS...

Here is my latest -v shot where it hung...

Could you please list your specs.

Regards,

Dwarfy

Hi my specs are as follows

5820K

Gigabyte X99 SLI

Nvidia 980ti

32GB Ram

I actually managed to get a USB to boot using an EFI folder i found on this forum, and installed OSX to my hard drive, but now when i boot to my hard drive i get stuck loading the OS (the white progress bar) and cant actually get in.

edit: After booting over and over off the hard drive, its loaded the OS with no other changes....

Any ideas why it could boot the OS 1 time in 10 but not the other 9?

Hey guys,

So i got most stuff working, issue I have is. Im using SMBIOS 6.1 Pro, which i hear has conflicts witn Nvidia drivers (980ti)

If i boot nv_disable=1 then it hangs when starting up and I cant get into the OS.

If i boot nvda_drv=1, it seems to go find but i get no signal to my monitor....

So im not sure how i can fix this between a boot I cant get into vs a boot I cant see!

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks that worked!

Im wondering how can i verify that everything is working as planned now? I just want to make sure everything is ironed out before I start using the install fully.

This is my overview tab and it seems to be over reading my CPU freq?

Since there is no PM support for x99, there isn't much you can do, there is only emulated PM support for x99. You can however benchmark your hackintosh with benchmarking tools. I also suggest you make a SSDT for your hack.

Sorry as im a noob ill have to ask, what does PM mean? and which benchmark tool does the forum recommend as standard?

I used an SSDT from the forums when creating the hack, should I make another one now? If so is there a tutorial to do so?

Thanks!

You shouldn't use someone else's SSDT, you should create one yourself.

PM = Power Management

SSDTPRGen

If you have problems creating SSDT, the come to the chat and I'll help you with it.

Thanks ill give it a go!

Does power management matter on a desktop?

Which benchmark tool should i use to check my performance? Cinebench?

PM matters, of course. :)

I use GeekBench and Cinebench, just to check the performance of my hack. Score of course matters, not for bragging but for checking if it is close to other hacks with same specs.

In what respect does power management affect the build? Im curious.

I just ran the geekbench free trial (had to be 32bit mode?) these are my results, does all seem ok and comparable?

Regarding Geekbench in 32 bit mode, it looks ok.

PM got a lot to do with chipset, and the power going through it all, USB, CPU, RAM etc all is a factor.

Ah ok I ran ssdtPRGen but im not sure if its worked / what to do, how can i best show where I am with it? here is a screenshot

Now it is just to get your SSDT from the folder in Library and then add it to EFI/Clover/ACPI/Patched.

It is best to check the SSDT with MaciASL, just to make sure if it is good and if it matches your real turbo clock speed.

Thanks is there a mirror for MaciASL? sourceforge download is down at the moment

Also im having trouble finding the route thats in the screenshot, there is no library folder under my user name?

You can only get it from source forge, I wouldn't recommend it from other places if you find other links.

regarding the library folder, go to finder> and search for ~/Library/ssdtPRGen/

Ok will wait for sourceforge to fix their website.

So i just need to run the ssdt.aml through it and then drop it in my EFI and then im all done for setting up the hackintosh?

Thanks again!

All you need to do is to check the SSDT.aml, and see if it is all correct in MaciASL and then if it is then drop it in your EFI/Clover/ACPI/Patched.

Brilliant, i will update when i can get hold of MaciASL

Sounds good. :)

Hey I just rebooted to install a program (first time since getting it working) upon re loading the OS i just get a black screen however I do have an active cursor, I assume this is to do with graphics again? Is there a fix?

Thanks!
