Hello,

INTRODUCTION (not necessary to read it).

I'm an old InsanelyMac member, but not very active from 2011, when I created my first 10.6.8 Snow Leopard Hackintosh on an Acer Aspire 5315 (I posted the guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/265919-miniguide-iatkos-s3-v2-installation-on-the-acer-aspire-5315-5715z-mac-osx-1063/). I repeated it with an Acer 4310 (the other guide I wrote:http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/265833-miniguide-iatkos-s3-v2-installation-on-the-acer-aspire-4310-mac-osx-1063/) and an Acer 5715z, too.

HOW I INSTALLED YOSEMITE IN THIS OLD MACHINE (just if you are curious).

Two weeks ago I updated that old 2007 Acer 5315 (Core2Duo, GMA X3100, 3 GB of RAM, 120 GB SSD) to Yosemite.

Method I used: Carbon Copy Cloner from my non-supported Macbook 2,1 but hacked with MacPostFactor. After that, I installed the Chameleon bootloader from ##### using EasyDSDT, a little of fighting with the kexts, and the great kext from OS X Hackers for the GMA X3100 for Yosemite (http://dl.osxhackers.net/Kexts/GMA%20X3100%20Kext%20Installer.pkg) and now the machine is working very good, but, of course, without QE/CI.

THE FACTS AND THE PROBLEM (bold letters are what's important, can you help me?)

Now I have installed El Capitan on an external HDD to this computer, using ##### and Clover legacy bootloader, default options. It boots but I don't have the ethernet recognized, neither trackpad or keyboard... and an horrible screen resolution, system defined as an iMac and El Capitan thinking my screen is a connected projector. Also, it's 10.11 and I'd like to update to 10.11.5 and I don't know how to do it.

Do the kexts from Yosemite work for El Capitan? If yes, how can I install them? I've tried to do that using the last Kext Utility, after booting on recovery mode and trying to disable SIP (command: csrutil disable) but I get an horrible screen, not seeing anything on it, or it reboots every 2 minutes, without loading OS X.

How can I install kexts or what do I have to do to get the keyboard working? How can I improve screen resolution? Now the GMA X3100 is supposedly recognized, "about my mac" says: Graphics GMA X3100 3 MB".

Thank you very much,

PS I know this computer, which is very similar to a Macbook White 4,1, is not supported by El Capitan. But it isn't supported by Yosemite neither and, although it works without QE/CI on Yosemite, with an SSD it works very good and it's powerful and fast enough for me. I think: if Yosemite runs nice, El Capitan can do a great job, too.

Apple dropped GMAX3100 support in 10.8, unfortunately. You're sorta stuck without graphics support. Sorry. If you want things running smoothly, you'll have to stay with 10.7 versions. If you're okay with just having framebuffer support (meaning you can have your max resolutions) then alright, but IMO it isn't worth it.

For getting keyboard and touchpad working, you can stick those kexts you used before in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11 along with any other ones and they should load fine.

As for loading kexts in /System/Library/Extensions for your video kexts, you need to disable System Integrity Protection this way: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308499-disable-system-integrity-protection-sip/

Nawcom has helped me a lot, with the trick of putting kexts in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11 now I have Ethernet, keyboard and trackpad working correctly.

Now I'm just trying to get my GMA X3100 working as it did in Yosemite, recognised with 144 MB of RAM, not with 3 MB as in this very moment I have it.

I just need how to do this:

Under Yosemite, Chimera 4.0.1, I loaded the GMA X3100 kexts using GraphicsEnabler=Yes and IGPEnable=No.

As I'm not doing this now, if I use the kexts, they don't work, as it happened on Yosemite before introducing those flags.

How can I translate the Chimera GraphicsEnabler=Yes and IGPEnable=No flags to Clover?

Thank you very much,

Solved graphical issue!

I just had to change the Clover .plist and tell it not to inject Intel Graphics. I put the drivers into /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11 and now El Capitan says my GMA x3100 is using 144 MB!

Another trouble: Sound! I had it working into Yosemite with a file AppleHDA.kext and another one called HDAEnabler3.kext and without VooHDA. Soundcard is a Realtek ALC268.

How can I put this kexts into El Capitan? Is there any equivalent method for Clover???
