tigersoul Posted August 12, 2015 Share Posted August 12, 2015 So I've been experimenting with my newly built hackintosh for a while now. First using [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] and then going the clover path. Installing with clover first worked just fine but when I finished all the tests I figured I'd do a fresh install before heading on to install my stuff. This 2nd installation doesn't work the same as before. First stage of osx installation runs along fine, but when the first reboot takes place and I select the "Boot OS X Install from OS X Install OS X Yosemite" option again during boot I am returned to the start of the installation again. If I boot from the newly created drive instead (which wouldn't be correct according to my guide) I'm headed straight to the osx setup post-install and the recovery partition or whatever is being done in the second installation stage never happens. I'm using a guide from another site that goes like this: 1. Make usb stick with installer, clover etc. 2. Boot with usb stick, choose Boot osx install from osx install osx yosemite" 3. Setup disk and install. 4. On first reboot, choose Boot osx install from osx install osx yosemite again. 5. Now "The system will boot into the new drive, create the recovery partition, and complete the installation. Upon completion, system will restart a 2nd time." 6. Choose the Yosemite drive during boot and you are presented with the osx setup wizard. Exactly this happened on my first attempt installing, but now I cannot get into that second stage. What the heck is happening here? I'm using the same darn usb stick with the same install, yet it's behaving very differently. Tried everything: disconnecting disks and stuff that isn't needed, still: same result, no second installation stage. Scratching my head and won't get any further. Good luck and happy hackintosh. Hi Sorry, I wasn't aware it was forbidden even mentioning a guide. I'm not using any of T***'s tools, just the information. In fact I'm going clover to get away from those tools and website. So reading the guide at http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298521-easy-yosemite-1010-final-usb-installer-updated-10162014/instead, the advices are similar but nothing is mentioned here about a second stage which makes me even more confused. Use the boot flag -v to get a diagnostic output, the information given will help us troubleshoot, if possible, take a photo and attach it here. The tool you have used, it's hard to troubleshoot, i have never used it, so i don't know what it installs. Like mentioned before, provide hardware information about your system. And try recreating the bootable installer again, using the latest clover. I took a far-out solution and re-created the installation usb. Suddenly everything installs again as expected. Have no idea how it became corrupted but that was it. Gosh.
