Read the release notes posted on the developer portal... It's a Dev-Beta for a reason. Even real Apple machines are having issues with USB. They are completely re-working the IO subsystem, or at least that's what it looks like to me AFAIK. The kernel extensions for the USB subsystem are clearly not production ready and just meant to be enough to get out to developer houses when I took a cursory look.

i see you have a gigabyte board

you didn't change the echi xchi settings in the bios right

that will make usb 3.0 to stop working

also the same goes for usb 2.0

changing those setting can make only one of the to work

depending in the combination you use in the bios

you have to use the setting that makes both of them work

i will say rest the bios to default

then change everything you need to change back except

the echi and xchi

one last thing

is your Yosemite a distro

or did you downloaded yosemite from the app store and crete your own installer

if you are using a Yosemite distro maybe the usb 3.0 drivers are already included in the image

for Yosemite downloaded from the app store you have to add the driver yourself

you need this file for usb 3.0 support

i also have a gigabyte motherboard

i haven't tried el capital yet

my only doubt is that

usb 3.0 should work in usb 2.0 just at lower speed

do you those usb 3.0 formatted as ntfs and maybe that's why the system don't see the device

plug the usb 3.0 and go to disk utility and see

anyway good luck

maybe apple did change something

i will come back later

As stated above, the USB subsystem is re-worked from scratch. Most Yosemite IO related kernel extensions and patches will not work. GenericUSBXHCI will cause a KP on El Capitan
