spanakorizo
in my attempt to install the macOsX in a partition i "maybe" lost 120GB of data everything started 2 days ago that i said ,ok thats enough with VMware its time to test it in native and decide if it really worths to give a damn There are some problems here...(that shouldn't be but happened on me) my DISKs are 2 IDE and one SATA i wanted in the beggining to install the macOsx in a small(10gb) partition so i made it FAT32 when i booted from darwin in native mode i realized that cant recognize the SATA i say ok i will go to XP and make a partition in IDE disk i allready have 2 partitions in the 2 IDE disks ,so if i make another one i will have 5 Disks nevermind i create the partition in the 2nd IDE disk and i boot native again to install the OSX the utilityDisk recognize the disk and i choose to erase the 3rd partition i made in the 2ND IDE disk installation goes well, for the 1st time i can move the mouse with no frames lose,1st time i can hear CLEAR sound with no skips. After 15 minutes i boot to OSX and im very happy everything goes well and its so fast! i fix a kext for my ethernet (marvel yukon) and i chose to restart NOW THE MOVIE STARTS ... i cant boot nowhere neither OSX and XP i remembered something about fix the mbr with fdisk i go crazy a little but i say..relax man fix the mbr ,boot from xp and change the boot.ini with chain ok...i cant find fdisk (not in XP) after somehours i create (from a friend) a boot disk with fdisk inside i start fdisk and i must f*** things for my 1st time... restart and im in XP again how sweet but can i stop now?? of course not i must boot to OSX ,is allready installed there noway to boot,XP dont either recognize the drive that OSX is installed fdisk again ,cant make the partition active, cant make the partition boot from this point i must totally f***ed the drives, with new partitions and delete partitions etc etc i started creating partitions also in my 1st IDE drive and almost corrupt the boot in xp yesterday partition magic was recognizing my 2 IDE disks YELLOW (BAD) and couldnt see the other 2 DISKS (partitions on them) ALSO YELLOW the 1st disk that has the XP and everything in it! i reboot for some reason and when i boot to XP i realize the XP have disapeared my 2 DRIVES!! 60+60GB the one full of games (DONT GIVE A {censored}) and the other SERIOUS data from this point i have try MANY undelete, repair partition softwares the one could save my 1 partition (60gb) but ...the 60gb of GAMES(@#$#@%) so it left the other 60GB as free (cause close to this drive was the OSX format drive and it @!#@!) i mounted the 60GB drive (DIDNT FORMAT IT OFFCOURSE THE DATA ARE INSIDE I KNOW IT) and now with r-studio i started check (`1 hour...) i see that it recognize files and folders inside but im not sure if i;ll can save them so this is all guys my opinion? allways backup your data and dont experiment with bootsectors and disks full of data use EMPTY DISKS i go now...r-studio just finished ,i can see some folders
SilverZero
GetDataBack for FAT or NTFS is a great tool for data recovery. As long as you haven't written new data off of the partition, you can probably still recover it. It's kinda messy, because that means old files that were never written over (just recycled) are still there, too, but more is better than none, right? I've been there, man. Data and OS recovery is just a part of the ride sometimes. You learn something new every time, but usually not what you need the next time. Good luck. spanakorizo
i think r-studio is very good i opened r-studioFAT cause the new partition (supposed to be empty unformatted) found ALL the files but couldnt recovered cause the REAL disk was NTFS i used now the rstudio FAT cause windows recognize this DISK with the corrupted data as FAT16 but ofcourse its not fat16 now i opened the r-studio NTFS and i rescan that drive i think that im gonna save my files now...i want to blv in this drive nothing was modified cause as you realize as when the partition deleted by accident so did the drive,so nothing changed..nothing the scan is faster now,i think in 20-30 minutes i will be sure what will happen if i could save from the beggining this 60GB and not the 60GB of games i wouldnt be so pissed its unfair thats why i keep trying now there are good "memories" inside i dont want to lose i have recovered data in the past data that i deleted by accident now NOTHING has been deleted ...everything must be there UNMODIFIED lets pray

SilverZero
I'm really glad you got some files back. Like I said, recovering data can be tough because you have to wade through all the old half-deleted files from the past to find your current ones, but it sounds like you've got a handle on it. Good luck!
