solaar
Hi OSX fellas Can somebody tell me how to control which processes should be launched (or not) at startup? Or is that 'sooo Linux'? I'm trying to tune a bit a 10.4.7 setup for video rendering. Stuff like stuffit really doesn't need to run all the time (and probably a few others too). Any hint appreciated cheers sol Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/30382-how-to-prevent-stuffit-from-launching-at-boot/ Share on other sites
The Baron
Go to System Preferences, Accounts, Login Items and you can choose what to launch on login. It's a bit confusing as the list has blank check-boxes, however all the processes here are launched, the check-box lets you 'hide' the launched service. Hope this makes sense, had me a bit baffled at first, Andy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/30382-how-to-prevent-stuffit-from-launching-at-boot/#findComment-210422 Share on other sites
TopazBar
Look in: /Library/StartupItems /System/Library/StartupItems There are probably some stuff you do not need (move the stuff you do not need to some safe place). solaar
Nice one. Cheers mates! I would have never thought to look in the user accounts. BTW what is this Magic Menu good for? Well I'll see next time I start up and it's not there... I would have suspected something more hidden like what TopazBar suggested. I'm a bit spoilt from Mandriva on that end cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/30382-how-to-prevent-stuffit-from-launching-at-boot/#findComment-210479 Share on other sites
