Hey I was wondering if those who have tried Leopard have seen any sign of an uninstalling app being made.

I was thinking of a cool app that could work for package installations. It uses the same interface as Installer and can be run by itself.

Screen 1: Welcome screen, says what the app does blah blah you know all that.

Screen 2: Says what volume you want to remove packages from.

Screen 3: Package selection, this is a big one. the app would read from the /Library/Recipts folder and pulls out all the packages then divide it into 3 categories.

A) Required Packages: These packages cant be removed as they have required files and directories like /bin etc. They are all shaded out and when you select them, it gives details what that package is used for, mainly for Power User info.

B ) Extra System Packages: These were installed with the system, but can be removed by default, such as those odd packages like Media Files and Asian Text Support etc. When you select it, a 1 time dialogue comes up saying these are system packages, if you need to reinstall it, go to this package folder on the Leopoard cd to bring it back.

C) User Packages: Everything else that isnt system related that is in package format. Simple select to get rid of.

Screen 4: Prepare to remove, a checkbox would ask if you want to repair permissions on restart and expalins what repairing permissions does so the home user understands it.

Screen 5, removing packages, finishing.

I think it would be an awesome part to add to the OS so you have a way of removing applications that throw support files that you dont know where they are. If anyone has any additions to it, we should add to this list and make it a goal to have it made :) .

What about drag 'n drop apps which create those random support files?

Apple could create an app like those shareware utils that can remove drag and drop apps and those support files. those are harder to do because packages leave reciepts that say where all the files are which makes it very easy if someone can make an app.
