Redtigerxx
Hi Guys, I recently bought the MSI GTX 760 so I could power mine 4K Dell monitor (MST). I got 60HZ to work via this topic (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1760435&page=1). But one problem still exists. When Yosemite is loaded the fans of the video card go banana's. I think they run at their full speed, it's like having a hair dryer underneath your desk. I'm using the Nvidia web driver, because I need to power the screen at 60 HZ. When I use the stock driver, this problem doesn't exists. iStat menu doesn't show the GPU temperature or the fan speed. But here comes the weird part, when I put my Mac to sleep and activate it afterwards the fans aren't running at full speed. Does anybody has an idea what the problem is? Update: After sleep iStat does give the RPM and temperature. StephanCA
I had the same problem and fixed it by deleting GPUSensors.kext from FakeSMC.kext plugins folder. mgldan
Thanks for this post. I wanted to check in and say that I was running FakeSMC 6.9.1315 when I read this post, and deleting the GPUSensors.kext was not enough to fix this problem. When I upgraded to FakeSMC 6.11.xxxx (I can't remember the last 4 numbers, but it's the FakeSMC bundled in ##### 7.1.1), that fixed it.
