Lacedaemon
Hey guys, As the title says, Yosemite will not boot anymore for some reason. It hangs here: The last major thing I remember doing was updating Clover. Restoring the "working" version did not work. Here's a list of things I've tried: Attmepted booting in all modes (-x, -s, -f). Result: No effect. Restored kexts and kernel from BaseSystemBinaries.pkg on the installer. Result: No effect. Deleted com.apple.kext.caches and prelinkedkernel in an attempt to force it to load all kexts, as -f obviously wasn't working. Deleting the latter made it even more unbootable, as Clover wouldn't even begin to boot it because "kernelcache was missing", and deleting the former had no effect. Can provide picture of latter error if needed. The only thing that worked was reinstalling a fresh OS over it. However, after I repatched AppleHDA and rebooted, it did it again. Now, my questions are: What could be causing it, and how can I fix it? How can I repair the kernelcache from my Mavericks installation? I would've already done it from Yosemite if -s wasn't broken. inb4 "just reinstall again": I'd like to save myself a lot of time in the future by solving the problem at it's source, and not having to reinstall and repatch everything everytime I want to boot Yosemite. Thanks for all your help! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302116-woke-up-to-find-yosemite-unbootable/ Share on other sites

Lacedaemon
Remove AppleHDA to see if that's the case Oops, forgot to include that in the OP: Prior to deleting the kext caches, I did try and move AppleHDA to the desktop, then booting with -f. No dice. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302116-woke-up-to-find-yosemite-unbootable/#findComment-2077969 Share on other sites
Nameless One
I've had some issues with Clover the last time or two that I have updated it, it removed OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi from the drivers64UEFI folder on the EFI partition. Once I had put it back in place (having a fully working USB installer to fall back on is very handy) it booted fully. kvonlinee
that is an interesting case study here. you have a backup bootable drive or anything similar to help. my case when I do a clone from CCC it did not boot, install clover not work in some case, test on a framebuffer of radeon 7870 and 7850. can you start from crash? I think the picture you have there, some thing is related to graphics such as framebuffer or hardware sensor or kext if you use the modified Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302116-woke-up-to-find-yosemite-unbootable/#findComment-2078825 Share on other sites
Lacedaemon
you have a backup bootable drive or anything similar to help. I still have my main Mavericks installation. I think the picture you have there, some thing is related to graphics such as framebuffer I have an ATIConnectorsPatch in Clover, do you think that could be the issue? I marred the kernel/kext caches so much, I just fresh installed Yosemite again, and after successfully patching AppleHDA and TRIM, so far so good. Experience = ruined. Keeping Mavericks as my main OS indefinitely. kvonlinee
I don't know what is the frame buffer for your card those, but It is a try and learn. you have the same system running on Maverick right? you can get the Famebuffer on terminal by ioreg | grep ATY and kextstat | grep AMD and the inject to the clover menu-graphics and the video port also, I can't make it into the picture about the FakeID-in device, if you don't have the one, make near as show in system profile. then use that and go to Yosemite credit of those line from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/287995-how-to-launch-ati-card-by-dsdt/page-4?do=findComment&comment=1927164 #74 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302116-woke-up-to-find-yosemite-unbootable/#findComment-2079422 Share on other sites
