First of all, AMD X2 doesn't work properly. you will need to disable one of the cores.

I recommend that you get a Core 2 Duo. As for the motherboard, the best so far is the intel 945 because it has full graphics support GMA950 , sound output, and networing working. (only for intel processors).

You should check The wiki to get more info about supported for hardware.

It depends on what you will use the pc for.

I just built a core2duo system for triple booting (win, linux, mac) and gaming. (spec with links to the patches I needed are in my sig)

If you're not interested in gaming the i945 would be a good choice tho I guess as it seems to have good support (don't the mac mini's run on i945?) :D

i wanted to tripleboot just as ur doing equilibriumuk.....

ye im intrested in games.....and thats why i wanted to take amd and asus motherboard as it comes with inbuilt nvidia graphics card................

but looks like i have to change to intel

and what about leopard for x86 machines......is it going to be release ????

....if so i will wait for it......

I think you need to understand that osX86 is a HACKED version of mac osX. Apple makes osX specifically for their machines and is unlikely to "release" a version that will run on run-of-the-mill PC parts (in fact they will probably try damn hard to stop that happening). Someone might hack it, maybe, hopefully, or maybe not... Apple has moved away from PPC and ALL of their new machines are Intel based and can dual boot. SO, if Leopard is really important to you; get a real mac, otherwise you are setting yourself up to be disappointed.

P.S. Built in video cards tend to be craptastic

hmmm......so apple still are not going to release any version for x86.....

and ye i was browsing through the hardware compatibility list and i found that mac runs fine on amd x2 4400...where as on 3800 its not..... is it true??...does mac recognizes amd x2 4400 as two processors???.....do i still have to disable a core if i have 4400 processor???

and is there anyone who is going to fix these problems with amd in future????
