Preparing for update via Clover

At the moment I'm using Clover in the UEFI mode. Clover automatically patches my audio.

 

If I want to prepare for the Yosemite update do I just need to add the kext-dev-mode=1 flag to the boot arguments?

Will this boot flag affect Mavericks in any way?

 

I currently can use a vanilla Mavericks usb drive to install OS X so I'm assuming I'll be able to do the same for Yosemite but thought I would double check.
