passmaster16
Hi All, I'm trying to install 10.9 Mavericks on a Sony Vaio (sve1712bcxb https://docs.sony.com/release/specs/SVE1712BCXB_mksp.pdf) without much success. I have created a Clover R2689 EFI USB drive per the following http://rampagedev.wordpress.com/os-x-10-8-mountain-lion/ using Mavericks from the App Store. I have ensured that the Sony Bios, which is severely locked down, does have UEFI enabled and Secure Boot disabled. I have tried using the USB drive in various USB 2.0 ports on the machine. When I attempt to boot from the USB drive, I get "Waiting on <dict ID="0"><IOProviderClass</key>... followed by Still Waiting For Root Device message (see attached for screen capture). I have tried various bootargs per the guide including -v cpus=1 npci=0×2000, -v npci=0×2000, -x -v, -v GraphicsEnabler=no, USBBusFix=Yes, etc. I'm sure I'm missing something simple here so any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thx Josh Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298463-still-waiting-for-root-device-during-installation-on-sony-vaio/ Share on other sites

Thx Josh USB problem. Try a different USB stick, different USB options in BIOS, or add GenericUSBXHCI.kext to the kexts you're injecting.
