phoenix
I have OSx86 up and running natively on my system with only one apparent problem. I have a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! Value installed which seems to be unsupported for OS X by both Apple and by Creative Labs. If anyone knows of any drivers that might work I would appreciate it. For the moment, I am without sound, not a great state to be in. Thanks! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298-sound-blaster-live/ Share on other sites
dogbert
there are no drivers, and there won't be drivers anytime soon. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298-sound-blaster-live/#findComment-2406 Share on other sites

Creative website does have driver for Mac OS9.x, wondering if that helps in some way? Even that doesn't, does FreeBSD drivers have a closer relation with Mac? (must be AC97 or HDA) 4. wait until there is an official release of mac os x Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298-sound-blaster-live/#findComment-4136 Share on other sites
DJP
Unfortenately the soundblaster live is great soundcard for only one os, Windows. With Linux or Freebsd i always had trouble with the treble, bass, and it had an inverted rear output which means if put up your rear volume you suddenly lose bass. I'm not surprised that it doesn't work at all on osx... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298-sound-blaster-live/#findComment-4157 Share on other sites
dogbert
the soundblaster live! is a piece of {censored} hardware-wise. it's three times more expensive than a CMI8738 (PCI) or a CMI108 (USB), it can't handle 44,1 kHz and even the digital outputs are noisy. the analog outputs are pretty decent for a sound card, but the power supply of any computer is simply too noisy to produce good results in comparison to external amplifiers. Kujila
that was a reply to DJP, and you fail at the text exegesis. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well the only thing I see is you being a jerk and criticizing other peoples hardware instead of actually staying ontopic and answering the original question. Just because you have a personal hatred towards SBLive cards doesn't mean you have to stray entirely offtopic while attempting to disprove DJP's point. DJP, although praising the hardware, offered at least some bit of viable information... : With Linux or Freebsd i always had trouble with the... You, on the other hand, went off on a complete tangent on a personal loathing about the sheer horrible quality of the card the original poster is trying to get working. Just because you have a personal hatred towards SBLive cards doesn't mean you have to stray entirely offtopic while attempting to disprove DJP's point. personal hatred? loool. that's the biggest {censored} I've heard today. but okay, the day has just started. you seem to have a remarkable disdain for the concepts of discussion. so, are you gonna unpack the 'freedom of speech' club now while crying to the moderators to ban me? cyrana
Keep this on topic. If anyone is working on a driver, post in the driver forum. Otherwise this topic is closed as the cards don't work and won't any time soon.
