mpalomba3
Hey guys I need some help, I am trying to install Mavericks on my Dell XPS 410. My problem is that once the installer boots and it asks me to choose my install destination my hard drive is not shown. I have the BIOS set to Auto Detect / ATA. But every time I quit the installer and go back into BIOS the settings have gone back to the defaults which is raid. What can I do to fix this because I'm really eager to get mad its working on this desktop. d620osx
How did you create the installer? I had the same issue on my vostro 200 but cannot remember if I had to add a kext to the installer or if the BIOS update fixed it.  Have a look at this  http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/288301-108-on-dell-xps-410-aka-dimension-9200/  Try the IOATAFamily.kext.  Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/294805-no-drives-shown-on-dell-xps-410/#findComment-1978709 Share on other sites

mpalomba3
Where should I put the ioatafamily kext? In s/l/e? Just realize there is no system on the installer so where should I put the ata Family kext? Also after I put it wherever have to go do I have to do anything to drive such as repair permissions or can i just boot it up Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/294805-no-drives-shown-on-dell-xps-410/#findComment-1978801 Share on other sites

mpalomba3
Made an installer flash drive using my hack and installed the generic extra folder and the IOATAFamily.Kext in the Extra folder. Now I get a kernel panic on IOATAFAMILY.Kext as soon as the installer boots. How do i fix this? Not sure if I said this before but I am trying to install mavericks. mpalomba3
Attempted 10.8 with my hack. I also put in the Generic Extra Folder and the IOATAFAMILY.Kext. For some reason when ever I add the IOATAFAMILY.Kext there is a Kernel Panic. When I try MYHACK without the IOATAFAMILY.KEXT it does not boot, it hangs on Bluetooth. When I boot with u.n.i.b.e.a.s.t it boots but there are no drives shown. And when I add the IOATAFAMILY.Kext to u.n.i.b.e.a.s.t it kernel panics. What do I do? d620osx
Sorry cannot help you if that does not work. The first time I created the install ysb I got the same bluetooth error. I remade the usb and I have been able to install mavericks on the vostro, updated to 10.9.1 which I think killed the sound. As it is all working fine with 10.8 I have left it at that. d620osx
I have 10.8.2 running on the vostro however to get osx to run on it I had to install modded BIOS 1.0.16, which supports HDD AHCI mode. The bios was from www.bios-mods.com. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/294805-no-drives-shown-on-dell-xps-410/#findComment-1979187 Share on other sites
