im running an intel 945g board with gma950...

should i not be using gma950 kexts then?

do i get something wrong? because...

A install with jas 10.4.7 with GMA900 Support selected -> working video

B install with jas 10.4.7 without GMA900 Support selected -> garbled video

in first case, i only have gma915 kexts, the second ???

so ithought, im clever and after A i installed with pacifist the gma950 kext and VA and co bundles from jas dvd and again -> garbled screen!

then, deleted gma915s leving 950s, still GARBAGE!

wtf am i doiung wrong?

I have a Intel GMA950 chip on a Intel 945gz board(Gagibyte GA8I945GZME-RH), I am using the Jas 10.4.6 DVD, i dont include that GMA900 patch when installing, because that doesnt work for me! and i think GMA950 driver is included in the system itself, and it works with QE/CI.

My understanding is that the GMA 950 and 900 is essentialy the same thing. The last working kexts for the GMA950/900 shipped in 10.4.3. The ones in the Jas 10.4.7 release are merely those same 10.4.3 kexts as 10.4.4 and above will give you no QE/CI. The actual kext name is AppleIntel915.kext (and its associated kexts). If you have screwed your up (like I did when uping to 10.4.8) the simplest thing is just to pull the GMA900.pkg off the Jas 10.4.7 release and install it.

I am running 10.4.5 in 1280X1024 with CI/QE with a MSI 945G board as well as an ECS 945G board. Would running AppleIntelGMA950 provide better results?

It would appear that AppleIntelGMA950 is a kext (?) ...

Are OpenGL (1.4.9) from 10.4.6 and AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer (4.2.0) from 10.4.4 both kexts as well?

Is AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer (4.2.0) the same as the one in 10.4.3? (I have 10.4.3 but not 10.4.4)

Replace kexts and repair permissions and restart?

Thanks

Steve
