Crabhunter
Hi, I'm working on a new laptop and I'm currently working on getting sound. The laptop has an intel hm77 chipset and intel high definition audio. I have tried all the voodoo kexts I can find and at best just get a crackling when a sound is played and at worst an unbootable system. Any ideas where I go from here? WaldMeister
Find out which sound chip you have. You probably need a patched AppleHDA and a DSDT edit to get sound working. The easiest way would be extracting your codec from an Ubuntu Live usb. How to do this is described in the following post: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/283754-patched-applehdakext-for-codecs-idt-92hd81b1x5-idt-92hd91bxx/?do=findComment&comment=1861876 All information regarding your audio can be found in codec.txt file. Crabhunter
I just don't have that much time on my hands to work through that but thanks, it might be I have to. Mike
eep357
Or with IOregestryExplorer: Unless it needs to be sorta working for this part to show up.
Crabhunter
I've been to the acer website and I notice the driver they list for sound is realtek, I'm going to install that in windows and see if I can get any clues as to what I might need for osx i.e. alc 889. Crabhunter
Well no clues using ioregexplorer, I will just keep trying realtec kexts until hopefully one works. Mike hmm getting bored with randomly trying alc**** kexts, how can I tell in windows which it is, I can't find any clues in the device manager or by looking at the driver files. eep357
I don't really use Windows. IORegistryExplorer is a Hackintosher's best friend, so chances are you'll need to use it many times. Just launch it, and scroll down to the section that matches the picture. That's all
Crabhunter
OK that helped, I'm now looking for 269. Sorry I thought it was just a general screenshot I didn't realise how helpful you were being. Very grateful. Mike
WaldMeister
Needs a DSDT edit though: http://www.insanelym...-inspiron-1464/ If you don't have a DSDT yet, here's a video explaining how to extract it from windows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wK8sHsQ-76Q It will need patching, you can use DSDT Editor to do so, if you have trouble with it, leave the extracted DSDT here
