BiTRiP
Hi I have a dedicated machine for OSX86 using this components: Asus P5LD2 P4 3,6GHz 2 GB PC5300 250 GB IDE ATI X1600 SILENT Everthing works smoothly as heaven. Except one thing: When I startup my machine there is quiet long time between the bioscheck and the darwinloader. After the bios check I get a blanks screen with a cursor blinking for about 30 seconds and then suddenly the darwinloader comes up following by the nice bootscreen. Why takes this so much time. How can I remove that delay? I have no timing-settings in com.apple.boot.plist Who knows it? BiTRiP
Bruce Wang
I believe it's "IOKitWaitQuiet ( ) timed out" error. There is a short thread about this issue, link as below: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=28117 I had the same problem when I installed 10.4.6 and 10.4.7 freshly. Since I couldn't solve it, I installed 10.4.5 and it booted normal. Bruce
BiTRiP
Thanks for your reply but the delay is actually BEFORE it loads OSX. This thread you posted looks like a delay IN the bootprocess of OSX. The delay if before its saying "Loading Darwin bla bla" BiTRiP
Bruce Wang
I see. I don't recall anyone has posted such error in the forum. Bruce
troisd
I have the same effect on my ADP clone. My delay occurs at the Intel splash screen. I guess it must be a BIOS thing. I haven't played with BIOS options to shorten the time since it doesn't bother me.
