xtraa
Hi, if you think about buying a new PC you should have a look at the wiki. In general, you need a CPU with at least sse2 support, but after the prices are down right now, take a CPU with sse3 support. More intel inside means less stress. But of course you can buy an AMD 64, too. Take socket 939 and watch out for the chipset. Also have a look at the recommended graphic cards here in the forum. dviper
But In My Country All The Intel Is China Made & Israel Selicon Sheets which is much slower than AMD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28107-i-wish-my-dream-come-true-please-help-me/#findComment-192225 Share on other sites
xtraa
But In My Country All The Intel Is China Made & Israel Selicon Sheets which is much slower than AMD Ok... as I said, you can also go for AMD of course. I have an AMD venice with an nForce4 chipset mobo and an Ati X-something graphics device. It runs almost perfect. But you have to install more patches to make it run on AMD, for eample the CPU ID has to be patched. You don't need that on Intel. btw. some AMD CPUs are made in Germany Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28107-i-wish-my-dream-come-true-please-help-me/#findComment-192571 Share on other sites
sandmanfvrga
I am in the same boat as the topic starter. I have an Athlon XP 3000+ and no go on OSX86, BUT I had another Intel machine I had that worked. PearPC? A great project but my G3 400mhz tower I had was FASTER. Don't think about PearPC. What you need to do is: A ) Get a Mac Mini Core Duo 1.66 with 1 gig of ram. That will run you $674 and you will own a TRUE mac. OR B ) Build a hackintosh like stated above. I am getting the machine I stated to you due to: 1) Hackintosh is great, but patched and running an old kernel 2) Waiting for patches to come from the community (You CAN'T patch from apple, you need the cracked/hacked patches) 3) People doing the OSX86 project disappear and reappear. Don't know if they are staying or not (Jas said he was leaving and now he put the 10.4.8 patch out. Not reliable, no offense to Jas). I had a hackintosh and can rebuild mine in a short while, but if you don't get the RIGHT hardware, you are just out of luck. I had to only get a new graphics card, traded actually at work, but I had SSE2 only and it hurt with stuff. Plus with some apps, they don't install or work right. iTunes 7 isn't working right, from what I heard. Have to use the PowerPC version or something. Seriously, get the mini (1 gig is a must!) and be happy. EDIT: I actually edited this a few times, but this is a thing I forgot. With the Intel Mac Mini, you can dual boot Windows XP or Windows Vista in one small box without hacking. You can do that on the hackintosh, but it is tricky and if you don't know what you are doing with partitioning the hard drives, etc. then forget it. Bootcamp is the way to go. Mebster
I've always thought that the problems with going out to actually create a system that will run OSX as perfectly as possible is risky as in a few months time when the next release comes out you'll all of a sudden find your mobo incompatible. What a pain. All that work gone down the drain. If it's a gcard or sound card then sure you can go and but a new one that is compatible but that’s just a never ending sting of possible purchases. I have to admit what for me makes it tough is that i'm rubbish at telling the specs for my system even with Everest simply becase i don't know where to look at. I mean what is chipset??? Never heard of it before OSX86 Project. I can tell you it's a P4 Dell Dimension 5100 PC with this manufactured hard drive and gcard but that about it. Can’t really figure out how to read the cpu or mobo or integrated sound or ethernet device. And that makes it much harder going out asking for something you don't really know much about.
