Plasma1879
Posted in new users lounge while still waiting for quiz part 2 to be available again. Hey, so I've been following andy's guide to installing snow leopard, which works great, including the update to 10.6.7. But I'm now trying to install Lion using a usb stick (Andy's other tutorial: http://www.insanelym...howtopic=261312), and I can't seem to get to the installation screen. I've setup the usb drive correctly (i think), but when I'm trying to boot from the usb to start installation, I get to the grey screen with an apple logo and the loading spinner. After a while a stop-sign-looking icon appears on the screen, while the loading spinner is still going. And that's how far I come everytime. When trying to boot the usb in verbose, it get stuck repeating "Still waiting for root device". Am I supposed to copy the "extras" folder to the usb before installing the package to the usb (which order is correct for point 17 & 18?)? I've tried both, but non seem to work. For the record, I'm using the legitimate Lion upgrade from app store). And I want to upgrade, since it is supposed to fix a problem with detecting my gpu. Thanks in advance, guys! Specs: Asus p8p68 pro (B3) Intel i5 2500K Geforce gtx 460 (Asus) 4GB RAM (Actually 8, but I took 4GB out to install after Lion upgrade) Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280842-still-waiting-for-root-device-andyboot-lion-upgrade/ Share on other sites
eep357
Just copy your Extra folder from SL over, same smbios, same dsdt, same org.boot.chameleon.plist, in whatever order you like. fyi, just always boot verbose untill well after install done and stable, it will also enable additional error logging while running osx to help debug any kernel panics. Lulz at steps 17&18, that's a lot of steps! 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280842-still-waiting-for-root-device-andyboot-lion-upgrade/#findComment-1835773 Share on other sites

treyhamilton25
I'm having the same problem. So you're saying take the Extra folder from my MacHD (SL) and put it on the root of the USB installer?
