JPCanaverde
Hi. A lot of time has passed since I last posted... I bought an early 2011 13'' MacBook Pro and I absolutely love it! And I bought an iPhone 4, too. But now I want a new toy! I'd like a really really really cheap Hackintosh to mess with. The main use would be torrenting, remuxing and reencoding videos (MKVTools, Subler, Handbrake). I want it to be small and quiet. I want a machine that I can leave to convert a video while I sleep, for example. I don't want lights, noise, anything. I want it to pretend that it's turned off. I want it to blend in with my router... I have a furniture that has my TV on it, and my router next to it. I was thinking Mac Mini form factor, so it can sit next to my TV (opposite place of the router). I don't want to buy a Mac Mini because I already have a Mac, I just want a toy. Maybe it's too much trouble, or perhaps not even possible, but can I use a Mac Mini case to build such machine? If not, what case do I use? I want it to perfectly support Mountain Lion when it is released (I'll buy it for my Mac the day it gets out) and finally, I want it to be like $300 dollars, or even less. Is this possible, or am I asking WAAAAAY to much here? If it is possible, can you provide me with build examples please? P.S. Here's my furniture: I'll connect the Hackintosh to my TV via HDMI, so I can simply turn on the TV when I need it. Thank you in advance. JPCanaverde
Thanks! Will probably buy those soon, if no lower price builds come. Is that case only available in the states? I live in Portugal, getting the other stuff should be easy, but I'm not feeling confident about the case, because Newegg doesn't ship to Europe. (And Amazon doesn't ship that case to Europe too...) Oh, and is it possible to paint the case? I think silver would look great, but I'm afraid I would break something by painting it. I found a an ATX that I think it's prettier, and it sells in Portugal. http://www.minfo.pt/catalogo/detalhes_produto.php?id=262632 Is it still compatible with the other things? Again, thank you for your reply. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280445-help-cheap-sub-300-hackintosh/#findComment-1832387 Share on other sites
