raziiq
Hi there. I have been trying to make sound work for quite some time now but to no avail. Below is the screenshot of my SystemInfo. i have an Intel HD audio Controller, an HDMI (Intel HD3000 Graphics) and in verbose mode at start i can see Conexant (14f1 5069). None of it is working. Speaker on Menu bar is enabled after installing VoodooHDA-v2.7.4 but no sound at all. I tried changing the kext with my device iD as well but to no avail. Any suggestions in this regard will be highly appreciable. Thanks Sound.tiff Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279978-do-i-have-3-sound-devices/ Share on other sites
eep357
Try a different version of Voodoo audio, 2.7.3 or 2.7.2, They can all be a bit buggy so just try finding one that works for you. If you get sound that is distorted or crackling, adjust voodoo setting in system pref and turn the input/mic gain down. raziiq
Thanks for the reply. Tried everything, gone through the link u provided quite a lot of times but nothing is working. I think sound devices are conflicting Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279978-do-i-have-3-sound-devices/#findComment-1828509 Share on other sites
eep357
check bios of audio options, that Conexant is supposed to be windows only I think. See if any options to pick HDEF instead Or maybe not...Try copying appleHDA.kext to desktop temporarily, delete version from S/L/E and see if Voodoo works if still problems, run in terminal: kextstat > ~/Desktop/kextstat.txt and upload resulting text file Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279978-do-i-have-3-sound-devices/#findComment-1828535 Share on other sites

eep357
was than ran after removing appleHDA.kext or did you not remove it? Neither VoodooHDA.kext or AppleHDA.kext are loaded in the above kextstat. For VoodooHDA to work, appleHDA must be removed from System/Library/Extensions/ Just dragging it out of the folder will only make a copy of it and not delete the orig, so make a copy then RT click the orig and delete. It will ask for your password. Then maybe reinstall VoodooHDA for good measure. raziiq
As none of both AppleHDA and VoodooHDA were working so i removed both of them from /S/L/E. raziiq
No its not working. eep357
Voodoo has never been the most stable thing in the world and can cause kernel panics as you had. Usually one of the available versions will work without any stability issues, finding out which one requires a little trial and error, but you now know at least one version that does not work If you've had the same result with 2.7.3, 2.7.2 and 2.7.1, then buy a usb audio adapter. I have a M-audio USB Transit one thats fairly old now, but works OTB and and sounds great. It has optical in and out as well as analog, 5.1 out using optical. Onboard audio works fine, but I prefer the m-audio and it allows volume sliders to work when using spdif vs. onboard digital audio Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279978-do-i-have-3-sound-devices/#findComment-1829567 Share on other sites

raziiq
This is work Delete old Voodoo first Copy HDA folder to Root/Library Copy App to/Aplication/Utilities Install kext to S/L/E Thanks for the file but sound is still not working. I can see the output devices but cant hear any sound. Also my System Info is not showing any details about the Sound. What i think is that i have two sound devices, one my normal Sound device and other is Graphics HDMI sound. Because of these both having conflict as system gets confused which one to use, i am not getting any sound, well its a wild guess. Tried some patches, adding device ids and all in kexts but never worked. More suggestions are welcome Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279978-do-i-have-3-sound-devices/#findComment-1829678 Share on other sites

eep357
If you can find out what codec it uses, things will get much easier. It should be alcxxx. Unfortunately I don't know of an easy to find this out. This is from Realtek's own support page Q4: How do I determine which model of Realtek chip is on my board? A4: You will find this information from the user's manual, but if it is lost or not available, the simplest way is to remove the board and check the chip part number directly.
