In the coming weeks I will be building a hackintosh with the following components,

  • Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4
  • Intel i5 2500k or wait for better support of the Z77 motherboards ect
  • ASUS GTX 570 Direct CU 2
  • Corsair Vengeance 16GB
  • Western Digital 640GB Caviar Black
  • NZXT Phantom White

Any advice on these particular parts such as user experience or any troubles would be greatly appreciated.

Verify that there is a driver available for the on-board LAN (and Wi-Fi if it has that) and that AppleHDA can be patched for the on-board audio - or check compatibility with VoodooHDA, on some devices not all I/O can be supported etc.

Having a driver loaded for the on-board, wired LAN is very important for compatibility, even if you're not going to use it. Many apps for OS X will use the MAC address of the primary on-board wired LAN device for registration purposes and machine identification. You will need this for iCloud and the App Store as well.

hi5 on the case selection I have a white Phantom as well. For the most part you should be fine with that giga mobo as they always seem the most widely supported mobos when hackintoshing. If you do intend to go down the z77 route do keep in mind that there will be more issues to run into since it's the current bleeding edge chipset out everything might not work just yet.
