I have a high res monitor 2560x1440 that requires dual link dvi. If i boot up the monitor just cycles power till I unplug the DVI cable and plug it back in then it works or if I wait till it sleeps then wake it up it works also. This is the same behavior you get with using a single channel cable at a high res so how do I tell osx to use dual channel on startup? Is it in chameleon or dsdt?

Which 5770? dual slot? 4 port or 3 port? Manufacturer will also make a difference, but I experienced same issue with a single slot, 3 port (DVI, HDMI, VGA), Diamond 5770 card, manually changing framebuffer to Hoolock (AtiConfig=Hoolock) and (AtiPorts=3) with (GraphicsEnabler=Yes) fixed it. You can try some other frame buffers like Uakari, Vervet or Eulmer (or any of the other monkeys) as well, as dual link may use 2 sense ID's for 1 port
