waradmin
Hello everyone, I was able to get OS X86 running flawlessly on my Inspiron E1505, and now am trying to get it working on my Optiplex GX270. However, I am not able to get the resolution I would like (my 19" LCD is native 1440x900) with my 865G chipset. Under System Profiler for graphics I have the following information: Vendor: Intel (0x8086) Device ID: 0x2572 Revision ID: 0x0002 I tried adding into my com.apple.Boot.plist file <key..... <string>1440x900x32</string .../key> but still am running off of 1024x768. Any help would be great, I searched and came up with nothing. Thanks in advance.
Rammjet
You're not going to get there from here. There is no driver in OSX for your video chipset, so the video display falls back to an industry standard VESA graphics display. VESA only supports a handful of resolutions and your widescreen resolution is not one of them. To see what video resolutions are available, try booting with F8 and at the command prompt type: ?video Some members of this board considered hiring a programmer to make a driver for the 865 chipset, but it never really got off the ground: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=19606

rkwok
unless you have something in the DVDROM drive, otherwise, no icon will show on desktop.

Rammjet
Go to Terminal and type: sudo dmesg (then give your password) This will display messages you would see during boot. Look for any errors like kexts that aren't loading or are having problems.
