I'm currently having trouble with booting Snow Leopard 10.6.3. I used iATKOS S3 v2 to install snow leopard onto my hard drive, and everything went smoothly. The install succeeded and I went ahead and restarted my computer.

Knowing that there is some problems with getting the display to work via DVI, I booted into my windows installation and installed a free trail of MacDrive. I then found a boot file that I knew would work with my graphics card and replaced it over the old boot file.

Upon restarting my computer, I was greeted with the new bootloader and I proceeded to enter in "GraphicsEnabler=Yes". I then pressed enter and up pops the Apple logo. I sit there, waiting for it to boot up, but I noticed that the spinning wheel I'm used to was not appearing. I waited there for five minutes and still no spinning wheel. It did not boot to the desktop at all, it seemed like it was frozen there. I know! I'll run a verbose boot and see what the problem is. I, again, typed in "GraphicsEnabler=Yes" and "-v" and saw a few lines of text flash. Next, I was greeted with a black screen. I sat there for about 3 minutes and figured something was wrong. I am unable to diagnose my boot problem because the verbose boot mode just shows a black screen.

I've tried everything I could possibly think of. I tried many different flags to boot into safe mode, single user mode and I even tried to change the framebuffer. I tried "-pci1", "PCIRootUID=1", "PciRoot=1", "AtiPorts=4", but to no anvil. I've even tried different bootloaders that were modified to work with my graphics card, but no luck either. If I enter "-v", I'm greeted with a black screen. When I don't enter "-v", I'm greeted with the apple logo but no spinning wheel. Whatever I do, it refuses to boot into the desktop.

My current setup:

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-H61MA-D3V

CPU: Intel Pentium G850 @ 2.90 GHz

Memory: 2 x 2 GB Sticks of DDR3 Ram

Graphics: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4670 1GB

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB

I have the SATA mode under my BIOS set to AHCI, and I have the Marvell SATA Controller set to AHCI as well. I have disabled the integrated graphics, because the HD2000 is not supported under Snow Leopard.

I'm completely lost as to why my system refuses to boot. If someone could help, I would VERY much appreciate it!

No I'm using the stock kernel as far as I can tell. Would I have to reinstall iATKOS in order to get the legacy_kernel? I don't believe there is an option for the legacy_kernel when customizing the install, unless it's not as obvious and it's one of the other options.

hi

are u using legacy_kernel ?

u cpu is not supported in 10.6.3

only when update the system

good hack

Holy {censored} man! Your advice worked perfectly! I reinstalled iATKOS, this time selecting the qoopz 10.3.0 kernel. The install succeeded once again, and I replaced the bootloader, again, with the one that was modified to work under my graphics card. I entered the required flags at boot, and I got the apple logo, this time with the spinning wheel! I was able to successfully boot to the desktop and setup my hackintosh!

Thanks "artur-pt"! I did not realize that I needed a legacy_kernel in order for my cpu to work. What update added support for the Intel Pentium G850?
