chris_cross
Hi to all, I was trying to get some native Win apps running on OSX using Darwine. So I was executing the .exe files from the win partition but Darwine was exiting with an freetype version error. All the Darwine samples are running flawless. My question: Is it possible to run eg. my favourite editor, Outlook,... on my Intel based MacbookPro? Otherwise I would´t smash my forehead by trying to get it run. Thanks Chris
Stadsport
Uh, why don't you just get Outlook for Mac?
chris_cross
Because I have to use some small Win tools that are not available on OSX. These tools (and Oulook) should share the user settings and databases. Otherwise I would have to migrate all the data when I am working on either one of the OS´s. fireshark
They cannot share databases. OSX cannot write to NTFS and running XP on a FAT32 partition is stupid
chris_cross
Running FAT32 is perfectly fine for my needs. You won´t be able to recognize performance differences. BTW: According to the kernel specs NFTS write support is under development. I managed to write on an NTFS partition. ( you would have to compile: http://sourceforge.net/projects/linux-ntfs) As I read in OSX.5 there will be full NTFS support. Nevertheless my darwine installations works now du to some sleepless nights ;-) and it executes some progs I need. Chris
milesce
Check out Crossover Mac Beta (http://www.codeweavers.com). Outlook runs just fine. There's a couple features I needed that Entourage couldn't support (like native support for opening a second Exchange mailbox) that outlook will, and it runs fine. However, in the beta version there's still no support for IMAP/POP connections, just Exchange server. I've had mixed success with other Windows app on my mac, but some of the key ones work well. I preordered, because its 20 bucks cheaper.
