i have a 1 tb hard drive where lion is installed.

some days ago i tried to install windows (without any luck) in the blank space which was destined to win use: "windows cannot be installed because it's gpt".

so i tried to write mbr on the disk with no success: the disk still remain gpt.

now, when i boot from the hd, it says me "no os found...insert a proper media blablabla reboot..."

so i tried booting ipc and hazard distros to have access on terminal, but they always go on kp because of [jmicronatapcirootdevice] D:

my specs are in my signatures

any solutions?

If you have access to another Mac or hack, you could make a Lion installer USB (flash) drive. Otherwise, download a more recent distro like iAtkos s3v2 or iAtkos L2. Also, if you have another Mac or hack, you could install the drive in that machine and reinstall Chameleon.

if you have time , suggest partition your hdd say 2x500 Gb , first install windows on a partition with ntfs format, and then install lion on another partition with Mac os extended (journaled) format once you have chameleon installed it will also boot your windows os.

I think I know what happened to you, just because this is what happened to me yesterday.

I had on the same disk, 2 differents OSX with chameleon and needed to install windows7. I've made a third free ntfs partition and tried to install windows. The installation failed (same gpt problem as you) but after that, it was impossible to restart any OSX, just like you said, looks like there is no more boot on the disk. My backups image disk from OSX did'nt works neither...

The fact is:

Chameleon was configured (by me) to make an automatic start (5 second delay if the user wants another os) on a specific partition. So, the boot was trying to launch the partition selected in his configuration, except that windows created a small partition somewhere, modifying all the numbers of the partition, letting me with a black screen and a small cursor with the idea taht there was no boot. But the boot was working. The problem was my configuration of chameleon.

In fact, I have a first small 2gb partition called boot with chameleon, extra folder, smbios, plist and so on then other partitions with the 2 os.

The solution: extract your disk & put it on another mac os, reinstall chameleon wizard on your first partition (no automatic start on a partition on your org.chameleon.plist), and my problem was solved. The os came back.
