post_break
So I stumbled across this forum and was just amazed at the fact that you can run say OS X or tiger on x86 processors and I want to try it out. I know nothing about this process so if someone would be so kind as to show me the ropes I would really appreciate it. The first question I have is where do I get the OS? Basically what I am asking is "Do I have to look under a rock to find it?" as you can assume what I mean. I am really looking forward to this project as it is something I have never attempted before (other than getting linux on my xbox). Well the link to my exact laptop is posted below and if anyone has had any luck getting the OS on a satellite please let me know. http://img218.echo.cx/my.php?image=satellite5yp.gif Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/2747-intel-laptop-projet/ Share on other sites

I have no doubt osx86 can run on your pc, what components work and what not (yet), check: Hardware Compatability List (HCL) or wait 'till 2006 and buy a Intel Mac which can run OSX and WindowsXP / Vista. The only legal way to get your hands on the Mac OS X for Intel are through the Apple Developer Transition Kit. All other methods are illegal, and should afaik not be discussed here! post_break
I didnt not want to say the W word and Im not trying to stir anything up to which I apologize. Thank you for the install links. Ill start on this as soon as I have a spare hard drive to try this on. Ok so there wouldnt happen to be a quick guide to installing the OS without a Mac system? Would there be a way to create a bootable cd or do I need a Mac to get this to work? post_break
I hope you guys dont mind a friendly bump. Ok so now I have a friend helping me out with this. He said to use emulator such as Virtual PC to then boot the image. Has anyone done this or is it the standard way of running the OS?
