iBifteki
Hey guys! So, I've installed Snow Leopard 10.6.7 with everything working perfectly. QE/CI, sound, Wi-Fi, and eveything. The only problem is, my installation is running from a USB SATA Enclosure. This is the way I installed Snow Leopard on my machine (specs in my signature): http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=257546 So, The problem is that when I connect my hard drive that has my Snow Leopard installation directly to a SATA port inside my PC, I get the infamous "still waiting for root device". I later found out that that error can be fixed by easily switching my SATA Mode to AHCI. Turns out my BIOS don't have an option to change through SATA Modes. Instead, the SATA Mode Select feature is greyed out and on RAID Mode. I would be fine with the USB SATA Enclosure, but the problem is that it keeps hanging after 1-2 hours of use, and it's generally pretty bad... So I'm asking you guys, what do you think I should do... I've looked everywhere for a solution, but no luck...
Gringo Vermelho
AHCI mode is not a requirement, it just makes it easier in some cases (mainly Intel ICHx). For SATA controllers that can't be set to AHCI mode, you need to find and install the right driver. Search for Verdant's nforce guides.
iBifteki
So, you mean I need to find and install the AppleNForceATA kext? Do you know which one will do the trick for me?
Gringo Vermelho
No idea. If you can't find exact information then experiment, you can still boot with USB if it doesn't work.
