xx66stangxx
I have been looking and trying to get support for this video card but for some reason I can't really find anything to get this to work. Any suggestions? I am currently running Snow Leopard via Andy's install guide. Thanks! Gringo Vermelho
Fermi architecture video cards are not supported by the drivers that ship with Snow Leopard. You must install the Quadro 4000 drivers from nvidia. Gringo Vermelho
You failed to read the hardware and software requirements before downloading. 1) It is clearly stated on the driver download page that the installer will only run on MacPros. Either modify the installer by editing distribution.dist inside (copy the installer package to desktop, right click, view contents, open distribution.dist in textedit) or change your model identifier in /Extra/smbios.plist. 2) Don't install the nvidia Quadro 4000 drivers on Lion, they are for Snow Leopard. If you're on Lion just add... GraphicsEnabler y ...to your /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist. If that doesn't work then add... PciRoot 1 ...as well. xx66stangxx
Ok well I changed my model identifier to Mac Pro 3,1 and now it says: "No driver update is needed for this system. This system already has drivers which support this NVIDIA graphics solution." Gringo Vermelho
Dude wake up. I already told you: 2) Don't install the nvidia Quadro 4000 drivers on Lion, they are for Snow Leopard. The Nvidia drivers on Lion already have support for the GTX 460, just like the message says. Gringo Vermelho
Your sig + post #4 above says Lion. What version of Snow Leopard? Run Terminal.app and enter kextstat | grep NV kextstat | grep GF Post the output here. What I said in post #5 is true for Snow Leopard as well. Try it.
