Hey,

I had Lion 10.7.1 working like a charm then when the 10.7.2 released I downloaded it and when I tried to install it I got

KP during the installation and now when I try to boot again it just reboots

no error messages or anything just reboot

Specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte UD3R

Processor: Core-i7 2.6Ghz

RAM: 6 GB DDR3

Graphics: ATI HD 4670

I'm ready to give any information

Thanks

Since configuration is pretty close to mine, and i'm facing the same issue, i'd like to add screenshots of the kernel panic i got every time i try to reboot now.

I can access the hd from another partion (w Snow Leopard), let me know what i should do ..

Tnx so much

Hi,

I am facing the same issue. I can also access the Lion Partition via another Partition.

tried Chameleon r1496 as well as Chameleon r1618 but no success.

I have no sleepenabler kext installed, but did try the most recent sleepenabler.kext

also, but also no change.

Also, changing the graphics card from ATI 6850 to the old NVIDIA 8600 didn't change

anything.

Disabling the azalia codec (ALC889) in BIOS didn't help.

I am also using a GigaByte Mainboard: gigabyte ga-ep35-ds3p, 8 GB Ram, Q9550 QuadCore CPU.

Any Ideas?

Any success Stories in upgrading to 10.7.2 especially on GigaByte Boards?

(for now, all people in the thread use GigaByte boards ...)

best regards,

Stephan

I had to do the same thing a few days ago it worked like a charm. I used TonyMacX86's ##### to change my profile to Mac Pro 4,1. (before running combo update again). I did run into a KP with AppleTyMCEDriver.Kext after that, but removed and rebooted into 10.7.2 with facetime working (serial number issue).

<key>SMboardproduct</key>

<string>Mac-F221BEC8</string>

to /Extra/smbios.plist

10.7.2 boots after that for me.

Confirmed! I was getting the same kernel panic before the installer was finished. Just added the two lines above to the plist rebooted and the install completed without a hitch.

Used this bootloader to solve iCloud sign up issue.

If you have access to Windows, You can install MacDrive which gives you access to your Mac drives on Windows

Then browse to your extensions folder and delete it then boot ;)

ok, i did the change in smbios, and now no Kernel panic on boot,

but prompt for

still waiting for root device

Now I'm facing the same problem as you do

I didnt have an Extra folder

so I created it then I created smbios.plist inside it and added these two lines and when I boot I reach the "Kernel is LP64" message then I hear my HDD's power turned off and that's it

Any solution ?

after some trial & errors, i'm quite sure that it is something related to the kext cache. If I don't create them after updating the system will boot with no problems, otherwise the system won't boot (still waiting for root device):

kextcache -v 2 -a i386 -a x86_64 -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions

this is the command that breaks my system.

Any advice?

cheers,

cili0.

Hi,

found the solution in another thread in this forum.

I had to add this:

<key>SMboardproduct</key>

<string>Mac-F221BEC8</string>

to /Extra/smbios.plist

10.7.2 boots after that for me.

Regards,

Stephan

That worked for me, thank you very much.
