Andy Machead
I have a Mac mini with a 1.66GHz Core Duo processor and a PC with a 2.4GHz Pentium 4 capable of booting OS X x86. I have considered switching to my PC with OS X x86 because my biggest issues with the Mini is hard drive space and graphics. I have looked around, what are the sockets for the P4 and the Core Duo/ Core 2 Duo? Also if I replaced the P4 with a Core 2 Duo, what besides BIOS instead of EFI would stop my PC from booting an OS X (Intel) disc normally? Thanks! AriX
Probably the Chip inside Intel Macs that lets the Mac know that it's a Mac and not a PC. I think it's called TPM (Trusted Platform Module?) And yes, I am the AriX from the OSX-E/worldglobeprod days, and the one that sent you a rude EMail a while ago.... Just so people know: He stole someone else's app and told people he made it!!! (Plus the App was illegal) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26941-pentium-4-to-core-2-duo-processor/#findComment-183158 Share on other sites

rogabean
The P4 and the Core Duo have different sockets. You would need a new MB as well.
