Gringo Vermelho
Replicate the boot CD's configuration to the Chameleon installation on your hard drive. Don't blindly copy everything. I'm not familiar with Pirate EFIX (I make my own boot CDs) but usually boot CDs are meant to work on a variety of hardware, so there will be files and configuration settings on the CD that are not needed on your hardware. Some boot CDs are set up to prevent certain drivers from loading at all, in order to let users boot on systems with for example video cards that are incompatible with (unpatched) OS X video drivers, or CPUs that are incompatible with OS X CPU power management. The only file that everybody needs is fakesmc.kext. On your boot CD, kernel extensions are placed on a ram disk image, this is named either initrd.img or preboot.dmg, depending on how old the CD is. Open it and see what's in there. Read up on how Chameleon works and research what the various other files on the boot CD are for. The Chameleon boot loader documentation can be found on the VoodooProjects forum. The good news is that if something goes wrong while experimenting you can still boot with your CD. If this is not concise enough for you, go to the counter and ask for your money back. Gringo Vermelho
i really wanted to avoid doing this ( reading that is ). lol dude, there is no way around that if you like your Hackintosh to be useful/reliable. There are a couple of guides available here for various boards in the P5K family, you should be able to easily find the files you need as well as valuable info, maybe even a better P5K-series-only boot CD if you're lucky. It doesn't necessarily have to be the same P5K model as yours, boards from ASUS with the same suffix are usually very similar. For example I'm pretty sure that there's a P5K board that's exactly like yours, just without the on-board wi-fi. Knowing exactly which components (LAN, sound, chipset, secondary drive controller, Firewire) these boards have in common will increase your chances of finding the information you need. With everything set up correctly, once you're at 10.6.8 you can buy Lion from the app store and either install it on top of your existing installation or perform a clean installation, just like on a real Mac. If 10.6.8 (+ the supplemental update) is working on your system, Lion is almost guaranteed to work as well. That said, you should definitely do some research and try to find out if there are any particular "gotchas" associated with P5K boards or even with your video card - you didn't say which one you have - regarding Lion.
