How to reset OSX to it's original settings, without reinstalling?

Is there a way to reset OSX to the state where it asks to create an account and setup a password?

Tried deleting the account directory recursively via terminal, but it didn't help. Any ideas?

To it's original?

That will take a lot of work.

Firstly, removing all apps, downloads, clearing history etc.

But to get back to the user creation page, yes, there is a way.

sudo rm /var/db/.applesetupdone

This will make OSX think that you haven't completed the initial setup screens, i.e.: username, password, location etc.

Any previously created accounts will still remain, it might be best to boot up in safe mode and login as root, and remove users using the Users Prefpane.

Have fun!
