grady.lynch
I just built my machine this afternoon and am eagerly attempting to install osx lion with Kakewalk 4.0.1. I prepared my 8gb usb thum drive and selected my motherboard with no problem. I set the bios to AHCI mode and HPET to 64 bit mode. I set my usb drive as the first boot device. When it boots I get a bunch of white writing on a grey background, then it goes to a black background. I snapped a picture of the screen right before the screen goes black, while the computer stays on. Again my motherboard is a GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/264366-gigabyte-z68x-ud3h-b3-kakewalk-401-install-help/ Share on other sites

el_gringo
Same exact problem here as OP had. Same motherboard, and my video card is a Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 6870. Does anybody have any other suggestions about how to fix this? Unplugging and replugging the video cable didn't help... EDIT: wow, I feel like an idiot. I changed the graphicsenabler setting in the boot preferences (on the kakewalk USB stick in /Extra/com.apple.boot.plist) from yes to no and it booted up just fine. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/264366-gigabyte-z68x-ud3h-b3-kakewalk-401-install-help/#findComment-1738246 Share on other sites
Daimyo68
I have something similar happening but the system just restarts and I'm back a square 1 trying to boot from the USB stick Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/264366-gigabyte-z68x-ud3h-b3-kakewalk-401-install-help/#findComment-1738279 Share on other sites
GffMaC
Make sure to set your bios to AHCI and set HPET to Enabled 64-bit. Also try booting with 'npci=0x2000' at chameleon command prompt on boot drive (press tab a few times at chameleon/kakewalk boot screen). I now have Lion running smooth with a GTX570 and this board, audio and network working fine, only strange thing is my 1tb windows drive is not listed in disk utility which boots fine from the boot menu - weird. aj05hi
If your video card is 9800 GTX + then it is not supported in kakewalk 4 (yet) and you need to set GraphicsEnabler=No as the default is set to 'Yes' and it will work then (well that worked for me atleast). The only problem is that I am still awaiting for my graphic card to be fully recognised by Lion.
