LowPro,

I am guessing you are struggling getting OS X Lion installed from reading your post. I struggled with it for a day, till I figured out what I was doing wrong and then it was a breeze to get it working. Everything is working perfectly on both of my Gigabyte Hackintoshs. If you follow this you should be up and running pretty quickly.

I would definitely get some more ram from newegg for your machine, I believe the minimum is 2 gigs which you have but I would at least have 4 gigs in your machine.

My problem was that I used the Magic Installer when I had Snow Leopard installed and though it worked GREAT for Snow Leopard, when trying to upgrade to OS X Lion the the magic installer boot loader I used was not written to work with Lion. Even if you did not use the Magic Installer as your boot loader obviously whatever boot loader you are currently using is conflicting with the lion installer so it is time to start from scratch.

These directions are what worked for me, take it or leave it, it does work though.

1. Head over to http://www.tonymacx86.com/ Click on the Downloads link on the left side. Then download #####.

2. Once ##### has downloaded, I burned it onto a CD.

3. I had an 80 Gig Sata Hard Drive that I used for installing Snow Leopard. I shut down my computer and mounted the 80 Gig Hard drive then rebooted the computer. When the computer was back up with the 80 gig hard drive (yours can be bigger or smaller does not matter) I opened Disk Utilites up. Make sure that your drive is GUID. If you are not sure it is, go to the Partition tab, select one partition and select options, if it says GUID then its okay if not select that and hit the format button. If it is GUID exit out of there and just erase the hard drive. Name the Drive Lion when you erase it.

4. Once the drive has been erased. Reboot your computer with the ##### CD in your computer, hold down the Delete key when you reboot that will boot you into the BIOS. Set the boot priority to boot the CD as the first one. Also make sure in your BIOS you have changed it to 64 bit and your hard drive selection is set to AHCI on both, I think these are major things you want right. Okay now save it and exit.

5. It will exit out and reboot itself, when the computer boots up using the ##### CD and gets to the boot screen and the hard drives are showing, eject the ##### CD and Put in your Official Snow Leopard install DVD, now hit return to boot the Snow Leopard DVD, it might take a few seconds for it to catch and boot up.

6. Once that happens and it loads up, go through the process of installing Snow Leopard on that Lion extra hard drive we set up. Once it is finished installing it will want to restart, when it restarts, eject the Snow Leopard Install DVD and put the ##### CD back in the drive. If you don't get it in fast enough you might have to eject the Snow Leopard DVD put the ##### CD in and restart the computer with the power button. Once you get it booted up using ##### and you get to the screen with the hard drives, select the drive that you just installed Snow Leopard onto, that is going to be the one that says Lion.

7. When Snow Leopard comes up go through the process of filling all the stuff out, when the screen comes up, run software update on the Snow Leopard install. When it is finished, again it will restart again when you get to the ##### screen select your Snow Leopard install drive which is Lion. Run the software update again, do this till Snow Leopard is completely updated. I think it was like three time for me. Now you are ready for the next part.

8. Now that we have a clean updated Snow Leopard on the new hard drive called Lion go back over to http://www.tonymacx86.com/ this time you want to download #####, the newest version.

Also while you are there go here to the DSDT Database http://www.tonymacx86.com/dsdt.php

Select your DSDT file, I know its there because I found your motherboards DSDT file, select the one for your motherboard and download it.

9. Drag the DSDT file that you downloaded to your desktop and launch #####, Select the option called UserDSDT Install and click continue. Eject the ##### CD and restart your computer but this time hold down the Delete key this will boot you into the BIOS change the boot order from the CD to the Hard Drive you installed Snow Leopard onto which is called Lion. Save and exit, your computer should boot right on through and load the Snow Leopard Lion Hard Drive.

***** I am assuming we are going to replace the old version of Snow Leopard on the original Hard Drive so back up everything you want to keep off that drive because we are going to do a clean install **********

10. Okay from here you have two options, you can use Tony Macs xMove or you can do it by hand, I myself did it by hand but I know the Tony Mac xMove works good too, so I am going to just give you the link and follow his part from here, I am going to make a video of my complete install and include the by hand part later but this will get you OS X Lion Working from here.

11. Open up Disk Utilities, Select your original Hard Drive with your original Snow Leopard install on it, Make sure it is GUID which if you had Snow Leopard it should be and erase that drive and call it whatever you want. Once that is done install OS X Lion on it.

12. When it is done, it will restart, when you get to the boot screen with all the hard drives, make sure you select the on you just installed OS X Lion on.

13. Continue and fill out all the information, we are close. Once the screen is up with OS X Lion you will need to do a few things. First you are going to do the same thing as part of step 9 here it is:

Drag the DSDT file that you downloaded from http://www.tonymacx86.com/dsdt.php# to your desktop and launch ##### that you downloaded from http://www.tonymacx86.com/ , Select the option called UserDSDT Install and click continue. After this relaunch ##### and select System Uitlities and select Rebuild Caches. Restart your computer and hold down the Delete key and boot into your BIOS, this time select the boot order as the new Lion installed hard drive as the first one, save and continue. It should now boot right into the New Lion install.

14. Everything should be working except your Network and Sound, or at least that was the case for me. Very easy fixes. First go to your network tab to make sure you got no ethernet connection, if that is the case, launch #####

Open up Drivers & Bootloader and Kexts & Enablers and Network and select the one that says Realtek Gigabit Ethernet 2.0.6 and hit continue, when that is done relaunch ##### and click on system Utillties and click on rebuild Caches.

15. Make sure you don't have sound, if you don't relaunch #####, click on drivers & boot loaders and Kexts and Enablers and Audio and Universal I installed the one VoodooHDA 0.2.72 because I thought that was the latest one but I realize now the 0.2.1 is probably newer, The one I installed works so you can decide if you want to chance it with the newer one. relaunch ##### and rebuild Caches again.

16. Now restart your computer, you might get a kernel panic on the restart it happened to me both time but it only happens once, everything has been running ROCK SOLID for 3 days now and I leave my computers on all day and sometime night.

I hope this helps, it worked for me, everything that I use, meaning the Sound and Ethernet are working perfectly, let me know if this helps, I am going to do a video soon for people, I feel I have to give back due to all the people that give of there time and expertise building the boot loaders that make this possible.

i think MacModifier say it all but from what u posted ,i guess you already have SL and want to install Lion < if that is the case then ,do u get this msg "Mac OS X can't be installed on this computer" ? which if yes then get This and replace it with the file in System/Installation/Packages on ur lion installation driver 'usb or hdd driver' ,if its something else _it would be better to post the exact msg so we can be more helpful.

do u get this msg "Mac OS X can't be installed on this computer" ?

That`s exactly what I get.

I`ll try to follow Macmodifier`s method and use the file you linked also and I`ll post to let you guys know if it worked :) thx for the help

WOOHOOOOOO :) got it working thank you both :) I just can`t get my sound working yet :( grrrrrr tried to do the same as for Snow Leopard but it`s not working...any ideas?

I have VoodooHDA installed, should I install AppleHDA or the AppleHDA Enabler?! (going to try this,be right back haha yessS Lion FTW) :)

*edit1* baaaah...no sound still...I even ruined my install and had to reinstall Lion, now I`ve got a 99% working lion (haha a Lion with his mouth shut hahaha :P)

*edit2* SOLVED :) yayyy HDAEnabler888 and VoodooHDA kexts did the job

Good Job! :) What tutorial did you end up using to get Lion installed?

Good Job! ;) What tutorial did you end up using to get Lion installed?

I followed your (macmodifier`s) tutorial, and some parts of THIS VIDEO to create the install image partition.I also used the OSInstall.mpkg on aufa333`s post and it just worked, even installed over a clone of my SL system and I got to keep all my settings and apps :)

Only thing I can`t set is the 64 bit kernel kexts and extensions...tried to change the mach_kernel file and use a 64_kernel file I found on someone`s post, I don`t remember where, but still no luck...but besides that it`s a 100% working Lion :)
