semeyaza
Hi everyone. I just tried out Leopard for a couple of weeks and ti worked great, but I wanted to go back to Tiger to be more comfortable with my working. Problem in I cannot. I mean I tried to delete the Hd where leopard is installed and access it with the tiger cd I have, but i get kernel error as soon as my Mac starts up. I tried to wipe the disk and install using an iBook and booting my PowerMacas target drive. result is i can install tiger, but when i try to boot it still the kernel error. Iìve tried everything I know, Pram resetted, motherboard resetted... also tried changing HD with another one... still nothing. Now I'm reinstalling Leopard since it's the only thing it seems to work, but I'd like to be able tog go back to tiger stable as leopard is it's still a beta. Anyone has encountered a similar problem or wants to suggest a solution? Swad
Did you try a hard drive rewrite? Like writing 0's to the drive? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26331-going-back-to-tiger/#findComment-178520 Share on other sites
semeyaza
Sure did... I tried this booting my G5 as target drive to an iBook and formatting with that option. I also tried to install from that ibook... the installation went ok, but the G5 does not boot in tiger... But i can boot the ibook from the drive opf the G5... that's really strange... also changing the HD in the PowerMac did not solve the problem... I'm starting to think Leopard overwrite somthing on my Hardware, but it's strange... should not be a problem to reset it... semeyaza
Fact is my Mac is still covered by my Applecare... but I don't know if I want to give them it to restore... Even wiping the HD it's possible they's find put there was Leopard installed? Not that I think they'll do anything, but who can say for sure... And waiting for Leopard to be out to do a full upgrade... too much time to have a beta on. twood33
so did you boot from the tiger cd, then use disk utility to wipe the HDD, and then install? firefighter3a14
I used leopard for a couple of weeks and got sick of it as well I had no problems reinstalling tiger from the DVD that came with my Mac Mini. I just inserted the the DVD while in leopard and followed the instructions. It feels kinda good to be back on tiger. I still can't wait until the final release of leopard though!
