dhess83
Ever since I got started using OSX86 I've been dual booting by using the commonly used method of 1) Setting the NTFS partition active 2) Adding the CHAIN0 from the root of the OSX DVD to C:\ 3) Adding the Line CHAIN0="Apple OS X" And it has always worked... until today! I just installed 10.4.7 on my laptop and this method returns me right back to Windows' OS Selection menu. The only way I can get to OSX is by going into Partition Magic and setting the OS X partition active again. Can anybody suggest why this suddenly wouldn't work? I'd rather not use the Acronis method, if possible. Also, it isn't imparitive to me that the NTFS partition is doing ths booting. I'd be just as happy booting Windows off of OSX's boot selection menu, if only I knew how to add the option. (eg, I don't know the OSX equivelant to boot.ini) Thanks in advance to any advice you might have. JaS
You can edit the boot.plist and add the timeout to it. That will give you the time you need to decide if you want to boot the os x partition or the windows partition, directions can be found on the wiki, good luck. dhess83
While I'm ontopic, what file controls the OS selection list that is displayed during the n seconds of timeout? I'd like to set Windows as the default (for now) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26115-jas-1047-wont-work-with-chain0-method/#findComment-176840 Share on other sites
mac fly
It worked for me with no change. I used chain0 to boot 10.4.6, and I installed Jas 10.4.7 after erasing 10.4.6 and it works just as before. I have to add that I also have vista on my machine. The first boot (Vista's bootloader) shows XP, Vista and OSX, and if I select XP or OSX, it goes to the old XP boot selector (with entries from boot.ini) and lets me select XP or OSX.
