  1. Hi there ! Thanks a lot, it works ! *** SUCCESS REPORT *** Computer: HP Pavilion DV8000t CTO Bios: F23 Running Windows Vista -Downloaded F24 Bios Update for vista from HP Website -Extracted with 7zip the files from the package into a folder (there are 2 unpackings to do) -Replaced BIOS.WPH with the hacked one from this thread (which is derived from F24) -Launched SwinFlash.exe and made sure everything was OK as they stated (AC power, etc...) -Clicked "Flash Bios": it worked like a normal flash procedure. After reboot, everything was OK. Swapped the old 3945ABG with AR5006EG: it works, and Vista already knows the card and loads the right driver. The wireless button now behaves oddly: instead of turning off the LED, it is just a little dimmed, so you can hardly tell its state. But it works, it does turn on and off the wireless card. Thanks !

  6. Voice login?

And what if you say something like: uppercase-A-comma-C-eight-semicolon-two-P-F-ampersand ? It would be a lot more secure.
  7. USB Issues

Try this: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry195531 Maybe it works ?
  8. HP Pavilion DV8000T: Never had a problem in running with both cores. Just one thing: since I began using 8.8.1, I can no longer switch between 1-CPU and 2-CPU mode with the CPU control panel. Used Jas 10.4.7 DVD (and then 10.4.8 update + kernel + a few kexts) Edit: Oops, didn't see the "2" in core 2 duo.
  9. ok i want a free hd tv and a laptop

  10. Boot freezes on USB OHCI/EHCI

Go there: http://developer.apple.com/hardwaredrivers...d/usbdebug.html and download intel version of usb drivers. For each driver you can have debug and non-debug version. I reckon you can use the non debug one. Try 10.4.8 and 10.4.7 and see what happens.
  11. Boot freezes on USB OHCI/EHCI

The debug message is printed from here. For some reason, the system believes you have a PCI card, and doesn't see it as built-in. did you try the last version of USB driver downloadable from apple ? if it still crashes, try a quick and dirty solution: force it as built-in and see what happens.
  12. Latest release tracker thread

Guess it's something about your mother and your sister. I wouldn't like that.
  13. Change bootscreen

I have a widescreen and the apple looks squashed. Any idea of how to fix it ?
  14. Generic USB2.0 (EHCI) Driver

What could I run on my machine to help sort it out ? I remember that USB worked on a liveCD I used a while ago. Is there a tool which is able to log somehow the way the system accesses the hardware ? Or a verbose boot option or so ?
  15. Generic USB2.0 (EHCI) Driver

Hi orByte ! Thank you for working on this, but It doesn't work for me. My laptop (hp dv8000t) is similar to mestam's. And it gives a similar error: Dec 11 12:42:42 localhost kernel[0]: USBF: 24. 42 Attempting to get EHCI Controller from BIOS Dec 11 12:42:42 localhost kernel[0]: USBF: 24. 42 EHCI - Ownership conflict - attempting to resolve ... Is it fixable ? (I have to mention that there is no BIOS option for USB, like legacy support or so...)
