ifrit05
Mac uses OpenGL, which is slightly slower than DirectX. That might be an issue, as for your GPU, it should run SCII just fine. Gringo Vermelho
Everythings working fine... but when i started to try games ( Starcraft II ) , feels like it's 2x slower compared to Windows. As ifrit says it's not uncommon for the same games run slower on OS X than on Windows but it shouldn't be twice as slow. On some Hackintoshes nvidia cards are throttled by the power management drivers incorrectly and never run at full speed. The easiest way to eliminate this issue is to use a MacPro3,1 smbios.plist in /Extra, the graphics power management kernel extension does not load on that model. This is not always the best solution because the whole power management subsystem configures itself based on the model identifier, but the hardware you mention should work fine with MacPro3,1. Use the forum search to find a suitable smbios.plist. If you don't want to do that, there are posts here on how to edit AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext so that it works for you instead of against you, with your existing model identifier. Use the forum search to find them. is it ok to try the latest download drivers ? Yes, unless the nvidia drivers you are using are modified or something else is weird with your OS X installation, it's perfectly safe. If you have modified any driver files yourself, just apply the same modifications to the new driver files. If not.. then ask the person who modified them for you! Go to Nvidia's driver download page and select to download the Geforce GTX 285 driver for Mac: The drivers are universal, they will work with all supported cards. Note that the minimum requirement is 10.6.5, and that you must use a MacPro3,1 (or higher) model identifier before you can run the installer. Or you can "hack" the installer yourself and change the model requirement so that it matches the one you're using by editing "distribution.dist" with textedit. It's inside the installer package, copy it off of the disk image and right click -> show contents.
