ringumaster
Hi, my installation of iatkos snow leopard dvd went fine, everything is working great, no problems whatsoever, i installed on a system using nvidia motherboard, geforce 7600gs, and intel cpu, changed to ahci in bios, and native ide support, turned on smart for hd also. System works great. but there is one thing, if i boot without the dvd in the drive, i only get to the blue screen prior to the desktop, and nothing happens, but if i boot with dvd in the drive, when it reaches the same blue screen, i can see that it reads some information from the dvd, and desktop loads in a few second. after that i can remove the dvd from the rom and everything works fine. do you have some suggestion on how to fix this, so that it boots without the need for install dvd in the rom? thank u very much in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/258607-cant-get-to-iatkos-snow-leopard-desktop-without-the-dvd-in-the-drive/ Share on other sites
enochpc
Without more details on your setup, it's a guessing game, but I had to add several boot flags with my iAtkos install, graphicsenabler=y and arch=i386. I am assuming you installed Chameleon, when it comes up press the key it lists for boot options then try those two, one at a time then both together. If you find a combination that works, add them to the apple.com.boot.plist file under Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration. You can drag it to the desktop, edit then drag back. Edit the <key>Kernel Flags</key> and add the flags between the <string> tags. Hope it helps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/258607-cant-get-to-iatkos-snow-leopard-desktop-without-the-dvd-in-the-drive/#findComment-1693754 Share on other sites

ifrit05
Try to get SleepEnabler.kext that matches your kernel version (terminal command, "uname -a"). It can be found on the net. ringumaster
thanks. btw. what does the arch=i386 string actually do? are there any limitations within the system while using this mode? ifrit05
thanks. btw. what does the arch=i386 string actually do? are there any limitations within the system while using this mode? It forces OSX to run in 32-bit mode ONLY. Limitations are you cant use more then 3.5GB of ram and 64-bit apps/kexts (drivers) wont run. ringumaster
hmm, i've just installed photoshop cs5, and it works, i thought that app was written as a 64bit app, so it shouldn't work?
