  1. Just to update, I am running 10.8.2 now with the modified AppleHDA.kext. I did however have some issues on install, downloaded the combo update twice, but each time said install failed. Second time i went ahead an updated kexts and booted. About this mac says 10.8.2, so I think the install mostly completed. Facetime and iCloud definitely updated, asked for my password on boot.
  2. I tried 10.8.2, no matter how many kexts I replaced, voodooHDA would kernel panic. Currently back to 10.8, although I am about to update to 10.8.1 since that apparently works. EDIT: I need to update my signature, I am running an XPS m1530 2.1 ghz proc, 8600 geforce, 4gb ram, tribooting with win7 and ubuntu.
  3. So I finally have a usable 10.7.3 install on this machine (been running 10.6.8 for a long time) except for a few issues I am still working on. My question is, anyone successfully install 10.7.4? I have my core i5 running 10.8, and would like to start using iCloud on my 1525. Thanks

    Inspiron 1525 Lion install

Sorry I have gotten busy and hadn't been doing much with this machine, at least as far as getting Lion working. I am using the nozyczek version currently with the same problems, after a complete retry. Chameleon 2.0 RC5 r1331 Patched DSDT Kexts installed in /System/Library/Extensions: org.netkas.FakeSMC (3.1.0) com.apple.driver.AppleACPIBatteryManager (1.0.15) org.voodoo.driver.VoodooHDA (2.7.2) org.voodoo.VoodooSDHC (1.1.2b1) com.yourcompany.driver.AppleACPIPS2Nub (1.0.0d1) com.Apple.driver.PS2Keyboard (1.1.0) com.Apple.driver.PS2Trackpad (1.1.0) It uses an installer script to install everything, which sucks because it locks the extra's folder, leaving me unable to manually edit with my limited shell knowledge. I attempted iAtkos L1, but it won't even boot on this machine. It's sad because Snow runs like a dream, better than Windows and as good as Ubuntu on this machine.
  5. I have lion installed on my Inspiron 1525, even successfully updated to 10.7.1, but there is something awry. I have menu meters installed and the processor usage is all over the place, and after an apparently random period of time the processors peg at 100% and it locks up. Sometimes it will come back and sometimes I have to hard reboot. Any thoughts?

    Need DSDT fix for CR-48

I had OSX on this, I used the Meklort Netbook Installer method. Graphics are not supported, the best you can do is proper resolution, no acceleration. And it's laggy, a bit. I finally wiped it and put ubuntu 11.04 on it. Runs much better and everything works out of the box (ok no 3g but didn't have that with OSX either). I would suggest some flavor of linux, although the NBI works fine, and it is possible Meklort or someone else might finish the drivers and get graphics working. If that happens I might give it another shot, but I have two other hacks that work well, for what I want the CR48 to do ubuntu does very well.
  7. Without more details on your setup, it's a guessing game, but I had to add several boot flags with my iAtkos install, graphicsenabler=y and arch=i386. I am assuming you installed Chameleon, when it comes up press the key it lists for boot options then try those two, one at a time then both together. If you find a combination that works, add them to the apple.com.boot.plist file under Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration. You can drag it to the desktop, edit then drag back. Edit the <key>Kernel Flags</key> and add the flags between the <string> tags. Hope it helps

    ICHx Fix

What boot flags have you tried? I believe I needed -x -v arch=i386. iAtkos, at least for the installer, should activate the ich patch as it boots. Without being able to change anything in your bios the board may be incompatible. iAtkos uses chameleon rc3 I believe, you could see if there is another boot flag that might help, but you've taxed my knowledge, I'm just beyond noob myself.

    ICHx Fix

In order to boot iAtkos, you need to have the correct settings in your bios. Try setting failsafe defaults, turning on HPET (I believe thats what it's called on my board, if your board has it turn on AHCI). I had to disable on board lan and video as well, since neither are supported. I would suggest searching for you motherboard on these forums, likely someone has tried before. I also had to tweak power save settings. Lastly, I never was able to complete an install until I used my SATA DVD drive from my other computer, the IDE would stop responding. Hope this helps

Work in Progress: Google (Inventec) Cr-48

I'll try to get on for awhile tonight, see if I can be any help, I'm still fairly new at this, although I think with half a dozen successes under my belt I can claim intermediate status. By the way, Meklort does have non-mac instructions, if you look under the guides section. Not sure how well they work, but they do have them.

Sorry got a little distracted. Hulu and Youtube are both crashtastic. Flash crashes trying to play videos. I'll try a little later to get an AVI to play. I am currently just hoping to use this for typing an light we surfing, so it should work. By the way, successfully updated to 10.6.7. It's a little slow, but usable.

    Can my laptop run OSX?

Apparently iAtkos works, see below http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=249511

Work in Progress: Google (Inventec) Cr-48

I successfully updated to 10.6.3. Right now I am cloning to my backup disk, will let you know on the video after I complete that. Not a bad little Macbook for free. Hopefully they get the Graphics sorted then it will be awesome (sleep might be nice to, I'm still playing around with that.)

Work in Progress: Google (Inventec) Cr-48

Finally tore into this thing and put OSX on it. Using Meklort Netbookinstaller I can get a working 10.6 on there quite easily. I have to install voodoohda.pkg seperately, but it works. So far updating hasn't had much luck. I have tried three attempts at 10.6.4 only to start over each time (I don't really have a good backup strategy for this machine yet, so Carbon Copy Cloner isn't really an option at this time). According to Meklort, it will update to 10.6.3 without any issue, so that's my next step. Someone else is picking up where Meklort left off, so hopefully soon we will have QE/CL.

MSi G31TM-P21 - DO NOT TRY

I thought I would point out that I needed to have "arch=i386" to get it to boot. I tried 5 or six different versions of Chameleon, and it would never boot. But I would boot from the iAtkos CD, and it would boot like a champ. Now I have arch=i386 and graphicsenabler=y and the machine works great! Now I just need to get it updated...
