VISTA

I've got an MBP with both XP and OSX running just fine. However, I use much more space, way more often in OSX. I know it's not readily possible to boot XP off an external drive without difficulty, but I was wondering if anyone happened to have attempted to boot Vista off an external drive? With backwards compatibility, I thought Vista might be a decent solution.

Thanks in Advance!

All the ones I came across were specifically asking about XP... just like most of the ones you've posted. Thanks a bunch; a simple "no" would have done it.

I asked about Vista...

@ Cosmo Kramer - that's my current configuration... Doing video editing on the fly has been becoming a problem. I never use XP out of my office (parametric modeling) and I hadn't read anything on Vista, so I'd thought it might be a possibility.

All well, I guess I'll invest in a portable HD.

you can boot xp and vista from a external hard drive. The only catch is the mobo has to support booting off usb. I have a box running 2000 off an external hard drive. You just hit the key for your boot menu then select usb. You do have to slipstream the usb drivers into the windows cd though.
