There are many voodoo HDAs that work, but this one is great and has working preference pane.

 

Recording voice in Garageband/imovie/QTime X with external mic no problem. For louder output via internal speakers raise the PCM bar in the pref pane.

 

Note : I found this elsewhere, just putting it here up.

 

Delete AppleHDA.kext to be on the safe side. Also no Enablers in /etxra/Extensions or in /S/L/E.

 

put these two kexts in your S/L/E - and double click the prefpane for installation. REPAIR permissions ( always after kexts .. ).

 

Kexts works in 10.6.x, up to 10.6.7

For more enhancements of those crappy laptop speakers I found a nice Software called "hear" ( costs money, Trial mode ). It can do magic and turn the sound louder,enabled systemwide equalizer for all sound making apps, 3D,virtual surround - it tuns the speakers into cinema quality output. highly recomended. :

Thanks I have same version of Realtek sound and works fine, Hear good too, one prob is cant find suitable preset for Hear, kept get broken sound
