P8P67 LE no luck

Hi there.

I bought my wife a new computer with the intent of building a hackintosh at the same time.

Here's the conf :

Asus P8P67 LE (an UEFI MB).

Intel Core I5 2400

8Gb of Ram

1 HDD

I installed win7 on the drive (MBR partition). There's a second partition available on the disk for the OSX.

However, when I try to boot using handyboot ##### or whatever, the chameleon displays 2 icons then 2 garbled output and hangs.

I tried the iaktos S3 v2 that boots correctly if I don't press the f8 key (else it crashes).

I found no clue in this forum so I'm asking the wise people for some guidance.

EDIT: As per your particular situation I HIGHLY recommend one HDD for win7 and one for OSX. If not, if I remember correctly, you have to install OSX then Windows. (Don't quote me on that.)

I have an ASUS P8P67 and am currently running 10.6.7 without any hitches. Beyond the rough install, this motherboard is actually quite well supported by OSX (with the exception to the Marvell pos raid card on it).

First, make sure you have ONE hard drive plugged into one of the 4 sata plugs at the corner of the motherboard. DO NOT plug it into the other sata plugs.. they do not work (lack of driver support). Also, multiple HDDs plugged in fubared my OSX install. This is my 3rd hackintosh build I've done and I've never before had to remove my other hard drives. Weird?

NOTE: The IDE plug is part of the Marvell raid card. You can not install OSX from a IDE CD ROM drive, or to an IDE hard drive. It will not work! If you do not have a sata CD drive floating around, then install OSX from a USB thumb drive.

Second, go EFI (BIOS, whatever). Set it to advanced mode, then make sure your bootup order is CD drive first, and then the sata drive plugged in second. Also, make sure your HDD is set to AHCI mode, which is the default.

Third, download and burn Andy's BootCD here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=252849

MIRROR1: http://www.mediafire.com/?bjf5a8gemiuc2p8

MIRROR2: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/416265/AndyBoot.zip

NOTE: Mirrors might be an old version. Check the forum for the latest and greatest.

You'll also need a untouched vanilla OSX RETAIL copy which requires either an official CD, or a dual layer DVD burn, or a thumb drive install. Make sure this is a retail DVD, not one that comes with a mac.

After everything is burned, boot into Andy's Boot CD. After that boots up, pop in the OSX DVD (or thumb drive), and hit F5 to refresh. After the OSX install image appears, run the OSX installer.

NOTE: If you're having problems getting into the OSX installer at this point you can try typing in -x and -v (-x is like safe mode, and -v is verbose) before running the OSX installer. Also, I can't say it enough: Make sure your sata drive and CD rom drive are plugged into a non-marvell sata/ide port.

After installing osx, boot into andy's bootcd again, run the osx installed drive. After bootup Apple menu, Software Update.. .. update to 10.6.7 (newest version as of writing this).

While that is downloading/installing go to safari and go to http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewforum.php?f=125 and download both the newest BridgeHelper, and ##### (in the future BridgeHelper may not be required).

After the computer reboots installing updates, make sure to boot into the andy's bootcd again for the last time. Run OSX from the hdd again. After bootup, run bridgehelper and #####.

The ##### settings I used in the beginning (before I setup dsdt) was:

-##### Install

-System Utilities

-In Drivers & Bootloaders | Kexts & Enablers:

-In Audio | Realtek ALC8xx then: ALC8xxHDA, AppleHDA Rollback, and Non-DSDT HDAEnabler | ALC892

-In Network: Realtek Gigabit Ethernet 2.0.6

After install is done, pop out the andy's bootcd, and reboot the computer. Everything should work fine. :)

Hello, thank you for your experience.

I still encounter some problems you didn't have.

My question is how did you set your dsdt?

Thank you.

I know it is plenty of tutorials on the web but it are all ununderstandable.

Thanx

I already have a P8P67 LE set up with Win7. If I were to follow these directions, could I just install OSX on another drive and have it dual boot or will I have to re-install Windows?

Can my Windows drive be plugged into one of the 6gb/s ports?

I haven't seen any good instructions on dual booting for this mobo so any help would be appreciated.
