neil43
Well the best thing is to boot into your back-up clone of your previous installation, identify which kexts are being used for the problem devices. Copy those kexts to a USB stick and then reboot into 10.6.7 installation and use KextHelper to install the kexts from the USB stick. Then run KectUtility to repair permissions and rebuilt the mkext file(s). neil Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/254356-after-1067-update-no-more-network-alc883-sound/#findComment-1668295 Share on other sites

##### also have option to fix permissions and rebuild caches. it also pack with normal and non-dsdt alc8xx kext. I've used it to fix my sound (you need to remove voodooHDA and old HDAenablerxxx before install #####). what is your system spec? this info may help other to help you. Jethric1
Hi, I had exactly the same issue, and am 2/3 of the way there. Update: I now have all three components working...see audio below. Background: I'm running on a Dell Vostro 200 Vostro 530 boot disk (##### didn't work) Retail version of OSX which loaded 10.6.3. Nvidia 7600 GT graphics card Generic Realtek 8139 network card Onboard AC97 audio. USB headset/mic. Prior to the upgrade, I had the system, network, graphics and sound working correctly with: Graphics = GeForce 7600 GT (bit).pkg Network = ioNetworkingFamily.kext (replacement version for the 8139) Audio = either voodoohda or AppleAC97Audio.kext (both installed then it suddenly worked) Post Upgrade to 10.6.7: After the upgrade, a copy of VoodooHDA caused a kernel panic, so I booted to safe mode, and removed the kext. (Kernel panic fixed) On reboot, I still had the graphics card working without changes. Network and speaker-based audio were not working. (USB audio was still working) Given Neil43's suggestion in a prior post in this thread, I reinstalled the ioNetworkingFamily.kext and AppleAC97Audio.kext. The network connection began working again. AC97-based audio is still not working. Update: Audio is now working. When I couldn't get AC97 working, I downloaded and installed the voodoohda again. It brought sound back immediately, though I had to reboot to get programs working. The reboot occurred fine, with no kernel panics. Note: I haven't tried running #####, as ##### didn't work for my system--I had to use the Vostro 530 boot disk.
