Why do I need AMD enabler for Celeron 336?

Hi,

I was trying to make a new kernel for a Celeron 336 system, which was installed from a Jas 10.4.6 DVD. The Jas installation DVD had a folder containing the original kernel and some patches. Having SSE3 and NX supported, I assumed that only the "base" patch was needed for an optimal kernel for this system. However, the computer booted only up to a blue screen with the mouse pointer with such kernel. I had to add the "AMD enabler" -patch in order to get it fully working. How can this be, this is not an AMD processor? What exactly is in the AMD patch?

Yeah , same thing here, my pc runs fine with the sse2 kernel but when i build a sse3 kernel, memberd keeps on crashing which results in a blue screen forever and ever until you reboot.

well its a known issue with that blue screen with intel gma 900 some people need to attach an extra monitor to get it to boot normally...

you might wanna try to remove the AMD patch and reinstall and attach an extra monitor and see if it lets you boot.

btw i used the paperclip hack in my sig(click the link)....
