Can only boot with iBoot, everything suddenly works perfectly

Hello everyone,

In the last few days i completely reinstalled my hackintosh, starting from scratch.

Because i had good experience with myHack i used this.

It installs chameleon RC4 and the extra folder including the basic hacked kexts and boot.plist

Everything worked and i can boot 10.6.3 with LAN working out of the box.

However after the combo update booting hangs at AppleIntelCpuPowerManagement, time out.

I've had 10,6,7 running before and knew it could do it.

However the very strange (but really cool) situation is that once i boot the installation of de ##### CD, everything works.

Onboard audio, HD5770 with full QE/CI, Internet, its perfect.

But ofcourse i dont want to boot from ##### always, so how do i fix this?

A wise man once said, the only thing more frustrating than not knowing why it doesnt work, is not knowing why it does work.

My guess is its the newer chameleon, maybe with the right 5770 stuff in it.

But that doesnt explain the onboard audio.

So how can ik make this boot from hdd, and keep it in this perfect state.

Specs: P55-gd65 mobo, hd5770 (club 3d), spinpoint F3 1TB, DVI-display 1920x1200

Thank you in advance (this is is such a usefull forum! )

Thats would be an option of course, but i would like the settings to be exactly as ##### uses them.

And i couldnt find anywhere what those were.

I am going to try some tomorrow, to see if that works.

Another option might be to restore the ##### to a partition on the startup disk.

That way i am sure i keep the functionality.

But i dont know how to make it boot from that partition.

Try "kextstat | grep -v com.apple" without the quotes in Terminal when using #####. That should tell you what kexts are being loaded from the mkext in preboot.dmg also look at the com.apple.boot.plist & smbios plist on #####, might give you some more clues.

Thanks for the reply's, i have it working now with #####.

Used the exact same settings as in this example (the ATI graphics one):

Next stop might be to play with DSDT, i hope i can somehow get my fans and CPU-throttling working.

But i have a working system and im very happy with it.

Is there a good utility yet that shows correct CPU clock and Temps?
