aristotlewilde
First questions is simple: If I build a new computer can I just purchase a copy of OSX from Apple, or do I have to jump through hoops to get it to work? Either way is fine, I just want to take the path of least resistance... Second Question: I plan on building a new box next month and would like to dual boot Windows and OSX. What are some opinions on Hardware (mainly which core 2 duo CPU and motherboard)? Jeezoflip
First question - No, you have to download a patched version of OS X from a torrent site from people like JaS, Myzar, or maxxus. Try to find the latest patch possible. (10.4.7). Search for OSx86. Stuff should come up. Second Question - If you want full support for OS X, I would get a motherboard with a built in graphics chip from intel being the 950GMA. They will fully support Core Image and Quarts extreme. Also, buying most Ati cards will give you the same hardware acceleration. Go to the wiki and look at the hardware compatibility lists and see what works and what does not. Espionage724
Ya Intel 950GMA works fine under Leopard for me. Idk if its just my config but my video ram is fixed at 64MB. Not a real big problem at all though. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25395-a-couple-of-rookie-questions/#findComment-486783 Share on other sites
